The location was great, but we drove a car and the roads are a little bit narrow and winding… Just something to be aware of

Valparaiso is bohemian in a rough way, great to stroll...
Valparaiso is bohemian in a rough way, great to stroll around Cerro Alegre and concepcion for a couple of days. A constant smell of human urine and dog shit. ( not so bad in the 2 Cerros mentioned but the rest ....;(.....the lower part of the city is an example when a city is left to decay. One can only imagine the grandeur ( long gone ) of Valpo 100 years ago.

They say you love or hate Valparaiso.
They say you love or hate Valparaiso. The street art and walking is fantastic for those with sturdy hiking legs. You are constantly lost which takes you to surprising new spots. The food and drinks and views from dining terraces is superb

The highlight of our visit to Valparaiso was a private city tour by Fernanda (walking_tour_valpo) who spent a very enjoyable three hours with us describing the history and development of this colourful city .... and sharing her extensive and intimate knowledge of the public art that adorns the city.

The city has some lovely spots such as the terrace around Palacio Baburizza. I had dinner in Restorán Capri and Gran Sazón Nazca and the food was great.
The major disadvantage are the safety issues. One should watch out for pickpockets and avoid walking outside after dark. Some streets in Valparaiso are also very dirty.

Charming bits in the middle of a bit of a scary large port city. We stayed for an overnight stay. We enjoyed the Bellavista area with its bohemian charm and artisan fare. We were disappointed by the flatness of Vina del Mar beaches.

The location was perfect with lovely views over the port. Valparaiso is very hilly and the hotel is on top of one of the many hills which can be challenging, although there is a funicular nearby. Our room was very nice and breakfast was very good. The staff were extremely helpful with advice on where to eat, what to see, booking a transfer to the airport and so on. We were able to check out late as we had a very late flight at no extra cost.
In addition there are lovely public rooms for reading and a beautiful garden for relaxing in.
Wonderful experience! Gloria and Marcelo were kind, helpful, and available. Food was delightful! In addition to the included breakfast, they are open as a cafe some days - during which we enjoyed the best ceviche of our trip to Chilé! We stayed in the suite with the ocean view and enjoyed the fresh air from the multiple windows and doors. Our favorite stay during our two week trip in Chilé by far!
Over-rated , over priced hotel. Staff is kind and helpful but un-efficient as unprofessional millennials.
Room was cleanish.
For a 'chilean' hefty price compared to other hotels we visited, no room amenities, no out of hours service, very limited poor breakfast (again in comparison to other hotels we visited during out tour of Chile).
This was my third stay at the hotel and I wouldn’t dream of staying anywhere else in Valparaiso. The location couldn’t be better and the rooms facing the sea have incomparable views.
