Disorganized city without decent transportation system after collapse of local tranportation company due to corruption and local infighting within the municipal and departmental administration. Traffic is a disaster at all time due to badly located (and unused) bike lanes, a bad decision by previous (I was told "corrupt") mayor (Rod. H.).

After our experience in other Colombian cities, we found that drivers in Bucaramanga used their horns much more aggressively. Traffic noise was generally higher than in other city centers we have stayed in (Bogota, Manizales, Medellin, Cartegena, and Santa Marta).
Bucaramanga has a very pleasant climate and there is plenty to do. There are many nice parks, and the view from the top of Santisimo cablecar was lovely, especially at sunset.

Quiet and safe city with a lot of cultural food, beautiful parks and some nice shopping centers with food courts. Not too touristy and a good middle size of the city. Comuna 14 tour, coffee visiting and tasting.

We drove from Bogota to Bucaramanga ... long drive but beautiful scenery. Loved travelling through the Chicamocha Canyon.
We also visited a nearby Coffee Plantation ... Mesa de los Santos ... the tour was excellent.

People are very friendly even toward themselves not jut toward tourists. Food is excellent. From local to international cuisine it was just delicious. Need to go to La Casona restaurant located in Giron a nearby town and have the best Cabrito (baked goat ribs in clay and wood oven). I believe they were superior to those prepared in Greece, Turkey and Italy.

Quiet classic hotel for travelers : large room, a bit old fashioned furniture.
But it is a very good option to stay in Bucaramanga for 2 main reasons : first, the heated pool at rooftop is an incredible pleasure to relax. It couldn't be better. Second, there are many good restaurants within walking distance.
This is easily the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in due to the STAFF who were the best people ever. I mean everyone from security to the front desk to the beautiful cleaning lady Isadora. There is just no words but I do want to say thank you my friends.
The room was very good quality and the breakfast buffet was quality. The staff attended to our every need. We also enjoyed that other americans were at the hotel. The pool was very nice with panoramic views of the city.
Breakfast was versatile, swimming pool nice, interesting art on the walls, nearby many restaurants and beautiful church. Importantly there was hot water in the shower (not always the case in Bucaramanga)
