Arno is a cheerful and welcoming host. The grounds were amazing - it was like being in the jungle without having to go there, with the bonus of a variety of wildlife. We got to see a troop of monkeys scampering through the trees while we floated in a clean and refreshing pool, as well as strange looking squirrels and birds I've never seen before.
The breakfast was delicious, satisfying and reflected the cuisine of Costa Rica - fresh fruit, rice and beans, as well as protein (eggs, sausage and yogurt). We did splurge one night for the dinner and it was totally worth it - delicious with great flavor. We also really enjoyed the privacy of our room and the deck.
One of the best features of Chez Nous is its location - very close to one of the most lovely beaches in Costa Rica: Carrillo Beach. The water was warm and the sand was soft. The waves were just right, and there was shade provided by the palm trees along the shore. For $20 you can 'rent' a 10x10 canopy and two chairs for the day, perfect for tourists. This is a beach frequented by locals, and while there were some vendors, it was very different than the beach at Semana, a few miles down the road.
The tropical BellaVista Suites Hotel is only 2 blocks from scenic Samara Beach, and features a rooftop terrace with stunning sunset views. It offers horseback riding, boat tours and diving lessons.

The property was in a good location for our needs. We had a rental car so it was easy for us to get around. The breakfast was good and the service was great.
Set in Samara just a one-minute walk from the beach, Blue Iguana features a swimming pool and on-site award-winning Asian Sushi restaurant.

This place is in a wonderful location and affordable. The pool is nice and the Breakfast tipico is really good. The rooms are small and ours specifically didn't get internet, so we had to go out of the room for that. Not a big deal but worth mentioning. I feel safe there. It has a shared kitchen, which always seemed clean, and they sell beer, water and tea. The staff is super friendly and always available to help. And although the restaurant is separate, they all work together to make sure everyone is taken care of. It isn't a 5 star hotel but it is a great place for family, work-cation. 2 min walk from the beach.
Located in Sámara, Samara Palm Lodge has an outdoor swimming pool, garden, terrace, and free WiFi throughout the property.

Even though we were only there for one night as they were booked solid, we got their business card to come back sometime. Very nice, close to everything. Quiet and exceptional. The continental breakfast was amazing but you can order as well. Definitely would stay again.
It’s not for families or people wanting hustler and bustle...
It’s not for families or people wanting hustler and bustle and night life (besides the monkeys across the street)!
There’s no shops besides a couple of Mercados.
This is the type of rest we needed though..
Definitely wouldn’t stay in Samara , too busy for us.

The property is exceptionally well kept and clean. It is set back from the road a good distance so you don’t hear traffic noise at all, just the sounds of nature around. Kitchen is well stocked with everything you need as well as covered totes for your dry goods. No air conditioning in the rooms, but we likely wouldn’t have used it anyway. The rooms have a fan and good ventilation. Great wifi. 5 min drive to Playa Carillo which is great for swimming and spending time under the palms.
The location of this place is just out of this world - a short walk to one of the most beautiful (and next to empty!) beaches I've been to with a difficult to top sunset view. The aircon worked well which was much appreciated. Our room was spacious with a lovely terrace with a hammock. The owner and staff couldn't have been more welcoming and accommodating. Lovely breakfast on the restaurant terrace with a view.
