Just a 10-minute walk from Cocles Beach and one mile from Jaguar Rescue Center, El Tucán Feliz - Jungle tiny guest house by Playa Cocles features accommodations in Cocles with a garden.

With two fans, the place was never hot even with the amount of heat and humidity outside being through the roof. The kitchen was fully equipped, it had a electric stove, fridge, dishes, pans, even a traditional coffee maker and a water heater. It was really appreciated that it had some ground coffee and black tea supplies, along with sugar and salt. The bathroom had shampoo and hand soap, also two towels. In addition to that he offered us an extra blanket. The whole place is full of mesh to keep the mosquitoes away. I loved how it has a private entrance and a little private patio with two nice chairs and also a thingy where you can put your clothes to dry. It was also really good that it had a shower outside to not bring any sand inside the room. It also has an outdoor table where you can enjoy your breakfast while watching the nature around you, simply awesome. Frederick is one of the nicest host, no, nicest people I have ever met. If my stay was longer I would just take hours to sit and chat with him, he showed me a little pond he made with his own hands and I was able to spot a little red frog. The place is full of wild life, you can hear howler monkeys in the distance, there are all kinds of birds and we even spotted several armadillos around the street next to the room. The cherry on top is Horacio, Fredericks dog, he is the cutest dog ever we missed him so much when we left, you couldn't imagine how we feel about that doggo until you meet him. Some other things that really showed that he cares for the people staying is how he had a drawer with some games to play, like dominoes and chess. A really nice touch was also the little brochure you will find on the room that has stories about him, about the place and useful guides that help you find where to eat, rent a bicycle and a lot more, it was really wholesome.

Featuring a garden, Cabina Harlequin at Margarita Hills offers accommodations in Cocles.

Hard to find words to describe how incredible our stay was! The cabin is just as pictured, very comfortable and the outdoor top level kitchen was our absolute favorite place to relax, cook, watch the animal life in the jungle etc. You can see monkeys, sloths, exotic birds, tropical butterflies right from your kitchen! The wi-fi is very good for remote work, the kitchen is pristine and very well equipped, the place was squeaky clean and incredibly tranquil. Tree's farm is a piece of paradise, with plants and fruit trees out of this world! She created a jungle sanctuary for all sorts of animals, so if you love animals like we do, this is THE place for you. There are numerous dogs, cats, goats, chickens, turkeys etc. We absolutely loved having cats and dogs come visit us in the morning, and befriended a beautiful kitty, who hung out with us a lot of the times, we miss her very much! Tree is an amazing person, so welcoming and kind, meeting her and Wilmer was a highlight of our trip... we've never been this sad to leave a place ever before! Thank you, Tree, for making our vacation so very special <3 We hope to be back soon enough!

Located in Puerto Viejo, a 5-minute walk from Chiquita Beach, Villas del Caribe has accommodations with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a terrace.

This is a really nice, comfortable, well run hotel on the beach. The pool is nice, the staff low key and helpful. It was a really relaxing place to stay. We loved that there were two restaurants within easy walking distance.

With pool views, Terrazas del Caribe Hotel is located in Puerto Viejo and has a restaurant, room service, bar, garden, outdoor pool and terrace. Free WiFi is featured throughout the property.

I don’t understand the bed reviews on this hotel. The rooms are very spacious even the ones for 2 people. Bees are very comfortable and there’s good AC in all rooms. Staff keeps the place clean and safe. The food at the restaurant is quite pricy, but no different than any other hotel. You can always have the choice to walk outside and choose from a plethora of restaurants with a huge price range in between them. Now, the food at the restaurant is actually pretty good, it just takes a while to get it. The front desk staff was super helpful and friendly, everyone speaks English if needed. Koodos to Donald who was extremely helpful to me and my family during our 3 day stay. He was always around assisting us and making sure we were comfortable and happy. All in all a great place to stay. Safe parking and great location, about 10 minutes from the beach and main restaurants. Additionally, the staff is super helpful, attentive and concerned for the guests’ wellbeing and safety. During our stay, a member of our group lost his fanny pack with all his documents, the staff moved really fast to check cameras and locate the whereabouts of his bag. Someone unrelated to the hotel has taken it and they could see it in the cameras on time to recover the Fanny pack. We were super relieved and made us value even more our stay. Thank you.

Great as always, the Beach itself is not a huge hangout part of our Carribbean adventures. The culture, the tour and adventure opportunities and the environment are what brings us back, time and time again.

We visited Puerto Viejo, Manzanillo (great beach with good swimming but we arrived too late to visit the NP), Cachuita (fantastic, beautiful hike and great swimming in the calm waters protected by a natural reef). Caribbean dream! We enjoyed the restaurants in the area too, and the laid back vibe. Good shopping in Puerto Viejo too.
