Navafría – 4 hotels and places to stay

Boasting a terrace and views of mountain, Posada Real Mingaseda is a recently renovated guest house set in Navafría, 33 km from Plaza Mayor.

Our host Jamie, of this family-owned and run hotel, was very friendly, helpful and spoke excellent English. We had breakfast at the hotel on one occasion and it was very good. The continental breakfast had a lot of choices and the quality was exceptional. We had brought our dog with us and this was no problem for the hotel. Our initial room was in the converted attic of the main building. The room was very clean overall and the bed was extremely comfortable. Unfortunately, the room was too hot for us, even with the windows open and we were unable to sleep on our first night there, so we asked to change rooms. Jamie was very understanding an was able to move us to another room without issue.

Situated 28 km from Loba Capitolina Monument, 29 km from Segovia City Walls and 30 km from Alcazar de Segovia, Las Casonas de Chavida offers accommodation set in Chavida.

We only stayed one night while visiting Pedraza during the Noche de las velas festival and it was great. Would have loved to stay longer to enjoy the big house and it's garden and BBQ facilities.

Navafria is surrounded by mountainous countryside with well defined hiking routes, of various degrees of difficulty, through the National Park. It is stunningly beautiful. I found the maps on the app Komoot worked well here but Strava did not and there was no mobile signals on the mountain trails. The village itself is very quiet during the winter season. There are few facilities or options for eating at bars or restaurants out of season, however. The restaurants and the largest bar open on various days and times and a degree of planning was necessary. We found a gem for affordable eating at La Estrella Bar. This bar is small but the owners serve good food and wines from a simple menu.
