A tranquil location in a verdant valley next to the Vezere river. Easy walking through deciduous forest to Roque St Christophe (best to have a walking app) and back alongside the river via St Leon sur Vezere. Our hosts were attentive and charming. I km evening walk to excellent local restaurant. Packed lunch available from our hosts, and a set evening platter if you opt not to eat out. A much loved family operated auberge

Chloe and Matt the owners were incredible. We upgraded to a room with a sauna. It is a nice old hotel in the wonderful town of Les Eyzies. We spent 2 nights there. It was the end of the season so restaurants/cafées were closing down. It is a strange fact about the Dordogne region that all restaurants feel you must eat foie gras and confit de canard. At every meal. This was one reason for choosing Le Cro-Magnon.
