Deeside is becoming increasingly difficult to find good accommodation outside of town with catering, thankfully the Cambus recognises this niche as important and provides excellent foot at reasonable cost.

When booking a pod you expect the basics. The pod was homely and very clean. The pod areas were basic but perfect for what you need . Each pod had a picnic bench and camping chairs . The fire pit with a kettle was a welcomed addition. The views were beautiful.
The facilities were outstanding from the snug that provided a warm fire , comfortable seating , dinning table, books along with board games. It also had two well populated books with walks and the other had local information ie places to eat. This was positioned next to a small tea shack that provided the essentials to make a tea/coffee. The toilets were clean with excellent space including walk in showered. The wash area was also perfectly stocked with hot water , washing up liquid and tea towels.

Very central location and really relaxed being able to self check in. Parking was easy right outside on a quiet street.
The bed was very comfortable and we bought breakfast from the coop which is 2 minutes walk away.
A super place to stay in a charming village.

This is the place to stay in the area. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we we treated so well. Beth is a fantastic hostess who couldn't do enough for us. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast is amazing, so much choice and locally sourced ingredients, cannot be faulted! The location is superb as we went to visit Balmoral.
Beth kindly offered us a piece of her mother in law's lemon cake. If you visit make sure you ask for a piece, it is exquisite!
No 45, Ballater is a guesthouse set in an acre of gardens and is just 5 minutes' walk from the centre of Ballater. The individually designed rooms each offer unique charm.

This former church has been tastefully converted, enabling retention of the original features. Auld Kirk Hotel is situated in the heart of picturesque Royal Deeside.

The Auld Kirk is a fabulous B&B in stumbling distance from the centre of Ballater. Helen and Kevin can spin a few yarns and bake scrummy scones. Breakfast was worth it!! Highly recommend.
Housed in a historic building, the recently renovated Crannach House bed and breakfast and self catering apartments provides accommodation with a garden and free WiFi.

My stay was helped by the fabulous weather but even if it rained, I am sure it wouldn't change my opinion of the area. Lots of history in the area worth seeing. There is a lot to do in the area, you wouldn't ever be bored.

Ballater is a truly lovely wee village albeit we went in February and most shops were closed. Balmoral Castle was closed and a lot of shops and cafes in Braemar were closed too. Surrounding countryside is speactacularly beautiful.

Lovely little town with many eateries and a couple of bars.
Lovely little town with many eateries and a couple of bars. Loved The Balmoral Bar and visited here several times for food & drinks. We ate a meal at Lochnagar Indian, very good food and excellent service. Large Co-op in town centre with anything you could need while visiting. Plenty coffee shops to choose from, we tried Brown Sugar Coffee Shop, excellent service and lovely coffee & cakes. We took a circular walk to Cambus O May suspension bridge, passing by the Cambus O May Cheese Shop & Cafe for lunch - amazing toasties! Drove to Burn O Vat and loved clambering up the waterfall side to the top, followed by a great lunch at The Boat Inn in Alford. There was so much more to explore and we will definitely return.

Great place to visit, ample shops for food, with may different tourist shops. Good choice of excellent coffee shops, bars and restaurants, to meet all budgets. One of our regular day trip destinations, but stayed for three nights to do local walks, enjoy the restaurants and the surrounding scenery. The Royals connection makes it interesting to buy from the King's local butcher, pharmacy and bakery all with Royal Warrants Displayed. Very friendly people. Ample free parking.
Can recommend the Balmoral Bar, The Fish Shop (restaurant).

We found this hotel to be perfect, with lots of charm and history, exactly the type of place we love. A traditional small family run hotel situated in the most beautiful setting. For a dog friendly hotel it was extreemly clean. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Our room was immaculate, bed was really comfortable. Although the menu looked basic, the food was absoloutly delicious. We look forward to staying again in future.
The room was comfy. Breakfast was fabulous, made to order and served by the friendly owners. We had some lovely conversations with them. They are knowledgeable about the area, and suggested great places to eat and explore.
The location is right in the centre of town. Lots to explore in Ballater, with Balmoral Castle and Braemar nearby. Take advantage of the walks in the area, too.
My room and bathroom were exceptionally clean, as was the whole of the hotel.
The lady got up early, so she could make me an early breakfast.
The staff were so friendly and the food was great. Nothing was too much trouble - even during a busy Bank Holiday weekend.
I would definately stay there again. A lovely small hotel, right in the heart of the lovely village of Ballater.
Lovely little apartment perfect for a short break.my family are from Ballater and nice to stay in the monaltrie after eating here when it was a hotel/restaurant years ago.
