Kyleakin – 13 hotels and places to stay

Close to the Skye Bridge in Kyleakin village, the Kings Arms dates back to the 1600s and has panoramic views across Kyle of Lochalsh to the mainland.

The staff were very nice and the location was very good. Good parking on the back of the hotel. The breakfast was worth it since is like a full Scottish breakfast so perfect if you go hiking afterwards. Lovely views from breakfast area.

The most uncomfortable beds any of us (group of 4 in 2 rooms) have ever experienced! They were squishy & lumpy, squeaking & wallowing whenever you moved, which was often when trying in vain to get comfortable! All the rooms at the front have a bright floodlight mounted directly above the window. We had one of these rooms and the inadequate curtains meant this outside light was streaming into the bedroom all night long. Also in this room, the only window (none in bathroom) was sealed shut so we had no ventilation (pretty sure this is illegal). There were cobwebs hanging from the ceiling and the property looks generally uncared for outside - it no longer looks like their photo. We were booked for 2 nights but found somewhere else for the second night as couldn’t bear the thought of another night in the horrible house with no sleep. We never saw a member of staff & have received no response to our messages of complaint - 5 DAYS ago. All we have received is a discount code to book again, but we wouldn’t stay again if they paid us!

Saucy Mary's is a sea view facing hostel located in Kyleakin on the beautiful Isle of Skye close to the Skye Bridge. We offer accommodation for individual travellers, families and groups.

Despite the high payment, we were not given towels, demanding a deposit. We left at six in the morning, so we were left without towels

we arrived around 3pm on the Thursday, there was a note on the door to tell you where to go to pick up keys and that check in wasn't until 4pm. We went to see if there was a chance of checking in early but there was no one there. we went to see if the attatched bar/restaurant was open to get a drink but that didn't open until 4.30pm, we went to another nearby bar where we had a couple of drinks and a lovely chat with the barman. We went back again around 4.10pm and there was still no one there we were about to go out again when a lady appeared, she gave us our room key and slips for breakfast, we went tour room which was in the eaves of the house room was very small and cramped the tea and coffe tray was on a chair below the hangers for your clothes/coats which wasn't ideal. We went into the ajoined bar had a couple of drinks and had a look at the menu

The location was just for a stop over on our way to Falkirk. The bed had seen better days as the springs had gone and were very uncomfortable and noisy with little movement. The floorboards also were very noisy from upstairs and when moving around the room.

A great breakfast. The staff could not do enough for you from serving you at breakfast to taking your drinks orders from your table. Spotlessly clean room with ensuite and sea view. I would highly recommend.

    Scenery was nice.

Scenery was nice. You definitely need a car as a lot of walking and also you are depending on transport, which is unreliable. No shops only the Coop. If you have no car you have to walk over two bridges and back to get food. A few restaurants.Didn’t realise how far the guest house from the station was. We walked it in bad weather and it took us nearly 40 mins. It was definitely an experience. It’s a day visit place or a base to drive to other places.

The shops do get overrun by tourists often so can be difficult to get basic needs when coachloads of people are trying to get trinkets and tatt. But the views from everywhere on this island are stunning, no matter where. Kyleakin is just the first of many on your journey round.

Cozy B&B in Kyleakin, the first town you encounter once you cross the Skye Bridge. The lady that runs the hotel was really kind and helpful. She made sure we had everything we needed and gave us a lot of useful advice for exploring the beautiful island. The room was spacious with a lovely view on the harbour and the ruins of the old medieval tower. Breakfast was good with a pretty good variety of options.

The staff was extremely kind and helpful. It was pleasure talking to them and they really tried to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Please accept our gratitude for this! There are a lot of possibilities for free parking. The location provides good starting point for exploring the Isle of Skye and part of the Highlands.

The location was great for us since it is right at the edge of isle of skye, which made it easier when returning the next day. The complimentary breakfast at the restaurant was also good and helped us start the day with a full stomach ;)
