Lovely evening meal. Easy parking. Staff very nice to deal with, friendly and attentive. Internet fast. Mattress very good. You have to bear in mind this is a very old property and it affects many aspects compared to a shiny new place but I liked the character

Didn’t visit Newton Solney, just stopped for the night at The Unicorn. However, I had spent a couple of days seeing various areas of the Peak District and then onto Repton School to spectate at England Hockey Super 6s Indoor Hockey Tournament

A small quiet place, with some possibilities for cycling and walking. The main reason for my visit was for an afternoon reception at Repton under 2 miles distant. I took a short walk along the nearby river on the Friday evening, and on the Saturday morning cycled to the Foremark reservoir, an attractive location about 9 miles away. A small cafe provided coffee and light refreshments, with some sailing and windsurfing activity visible at the club on the opposite shore. I cycled back to Derby on the Sunday via the nearby Greenway which follows an old railway line, an excellent traffic free track suitable for cycling and walking. A main road runs through Newton Solney with light traffic during my weekend visit.
