I had a lovely stay at the Astor Hotel in Athens! The hotel was beautifully decorated and had such a nice, welcoming atmosphere. The location was absolutely perfect—right in the heart of everything, making it super easy to explore the city. The staff were always friendly, warm, and incredibly helpful throughout my stay.
The only small downside was the size of the room—it was a bit compact—but it was very clean and well maintained, so it didn’t take away from the overall experience. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a convenient and charming place to stay in Athens!

With the Acropolis as the jewel in the archaeological crown of Athens, this city is full of history while embracing the future. Take a stroll back in time through the neoclassical streets of the Plaka, where you'll find tavernas serving tantalizing souvlaki and mousaka, street vendors and live entertainment.
A trip to the Parthenon and the Agora top most lists and can also be appreciated from a distance by walking along the Dionysiou Aeropagitou street, which is away from the busy crowds of the city center.
The changing of the guard occurs every hour on the famous Syntagma Square. From here, Ermou Street provides shopaholics with a fashionable retail sanctuary. The upscale districts Kolonaki and Kifisia are also bursting with fancy boutiques, galleries and bars.
Athens has some of the finest museums in the world, such as the National Archaeological, Acropolis and Benaki Museums. From Athens International Airport to the Port of Piraeus, this is a city bustling with the old and new. On Booking.com you can find everything from modern hotels to a room in a classical building.
Great food and drinks culture. Roof top bars - especially with the acropolis view is a must go.
It is amazing to see the Greek history in person.
Must try food : souvlaki, loukamades, tzatziki
Athens is walkable otherwise there is tram and metro available to connect further places.

I have been coming to Greece for 20 years as we I live in Aus. Even though I love the islands and Patras (home) plus many other sites Athens is great.
Each time you come try and see different things, sites, restaurants, markets, food markets etc
This time I eta at a different location each time somewhere I have not before
All the sites I went to I have not previously went to and made sure I was there at 11 for the soldiers as they block the road on Sunday.
In Greece also speak up and ask questions, Greece seems slow and nothing moves fast so you need to be proactive here or you will always be lost and left standing waiiiiiiting ha :)
I always do the Acropolis ;)

Athens is 100% better than when I was here in the 1980s.
Athens is 100% better than when I was here in the 1980s. The shopping is excellent; men are well-behaved, even courteous and accommodations have improved considerably. I stayed three times during this trip, visiting four different islands: a dream come true. Although I love the graffiti, the rubbish is a bit of an eyesore.

Athens is a great city to visit with plenty to see in and around the area with a excellent and reasonably priced metro system which covers most of the city and runs frequently. There is something here for everyone whether it is beach lovers or sightseers like myself with excellent choices of restaurants to cater for all budgets . A must visit are obviously the Acropolis and Parthenon but my favourite was a full day trip to Meteora which has incredible rock formations with monasteries perched on the top.I can also recommend trips to Delph, i CorinthCanal,Mycenae,Nafplion and Epicurus.

Athens is amazing in its energy and the kindness of its people. They bend over backwards for you. The sights are phenomenal and everywhere you look some historical event happened. It is not expensive as one can find deals anywhere you go. The weather is beautiful in cold storms as well as hot summer. I've also found the smartest people in Athens who are educated, informed and willing to converse on a myriad of subjects. They are the treasure of this city as well as their temples, their culture and their art.

The hop on bus was great to get round the city.
The hop on bus was great to get round the city. We got a packed lunch from a local bakery to give us more flexibility when we wanted to eat.
There are many roof-top restaurants to view the Parthenon, so look out for signs.

Gorgeous hotel in the Plaka district of Athens. Steps away from a huge choice of restaurants, bars, shops, etc. Rey conveniently located to the metro from the airport, we arrived into Syntagma square and had an easy walk ( 5 or 6 minutes) to the hotel. Our room was beautiful, and had a fab view of the Acropolis. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace had an even better view and the service, setting and food was one of the best breakfasts I’ve eaten in a hotel. Highly recommend the Electra Palace if you are staying in Athens.
Good side view of the Acropolis from our balcony, but the best view is from the roof terrace open all day and night - also where you go for breakfast which is very nice. The staff are really helpful and the hotel is in a brilliant location for the main archaeological sites and the acropolis museum. We would definitely stay here again - it was the most expensive of all the hotels we stayed in during our trip around Greece but the we'd expect to pay more in the city centre and so close to the Parthenon.
The best hotel we stayed on our trip to Greece. Super nice location ( in the street where Kook Restaurant is, so only few steps to the Bar and Restaurant area) Lovely hotel with beautiful and large rooms, wonderful and very nice owner, stunning rooftop bar (not serviced yet but is planned), all day free drinks (water, Juice) and food (croissants, snacks) Very good breakfast. This is our most favorite hotel in Athens and we would love to come back soon. This is how you should run a hotel :-)
I travel several times throughout the year all over Europe and in within Greece where I live. Calliope's far surpasses every place that I have stayed at. I love the kindness of Calliope, the building and the apartment are beautiful. It is very spacious, very clean, and in a perfect location (actually the best location in Athens). I wish anyone that is in search of a perfect place to stay is lucky enough to have the opportunity to stay at Calliope's.
I am planning returning to Greece next year and the year after. provided the prices remain the same, I will be booking the Niche Hotel again. As a solo traveller, it met my every need. The staff including the room prep staff were the best I've ever had, very kind and helpful. The breakfast was exceptional, fresh and plentiful.
