The hotel Menta was a great choice. We were very satisfied with our room (it might have been a junior suite). The room had a balcony with a sea view and was located on the upper floors. It was spacious and clean in every way. The bathroom was in (fairly) good condition. There was plenty of space for clothes in the closet. The balcony was delightful; plain but spacious. Views in almost all directions. There was also space for the car near the hotel on an empty lot. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere at the hotel was relaxed. In March, everything was still off-season which made our visit seemingly peaceful. The breakfast was decent. Good savory pastries in addition to all kinds of traditional sweets. We didn't try the swimming pool but we did swim in the sea despite the cold water. It takes 15-30 minutes to walk from the hotel to the beach and the town center - old and new.

Historic and full of character, centrally located in Rethymno old town, but hidden away down some back lanes, away from the hustle and bustle. Lots of places to eat and things to see nearby. Clean and comfortable room with a large balcony, much appreciated. Friendly welcoming staff. There is a swimming pool on site.

The Venetian fort and old harbour, plus the old town, are highlights for a visit. We certainly recommend a couple of days Rethymnon for anyone who likes to visit towns while on holiday. It has a good choice of restaurants and bars, particularly in the old town and around the Venetian Harbour. If you like fish and seafood, I recommend Achinos restaurant but be aware that chosing your own, fresh-caught fish, for them to prepare for you, is quite costly. In summary, Rethymnon is ideal for a city visit and for those who enjoy a good choice of restaurants and bars. Probably best to visit in spring or late autumn.

Surprisingly in the end October the Rethymno Old town was very lovely to walk around and full of life. Our beloved places to eat were restaurant Thymari, taverna Vatania and for lunch mini grill Sofia. It is nice walk-able city with long promenade along the seaside, but if needed taxis are everywhere available.

The maze of little streets in the Old Town with buzzy restaurants, plentiful bars and independent shops. The business owners were very friendly. Avoid eating directly in the Venetian port as although picturesque the restaurants are expensive and after eating there and being charged 80 euros for 'the fish of the day' locals such as taxi drivers and told us that restaurants there bump up the prices for gullible tourists.

Loved walking around the old town and finding surprises.
Loved walking around the old town and finding surprises. We took the mini train tour which was great. Didn’t have time to visit the beach and missed visiting the church on the cliff. Saw it from the train though. Definitely would recommend 3-4 nights stay.

It was a close enough distance to the Old Town to still be able to explore and have food but also far enough to still be away from crowds of people. There’s also a handful of amazing restaurants just minutes walk from the hotel with superb views of the sunset and fantastic food.
The fact that they had their own beach front was amazing, there were always sun loungers available and it had such a beautiful view. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. We found our experience to be nothing short of brilliant.
This hotel is awesome! It's right on the beach in Rethymno, and the staff is super friendly and helpful. Breakfast is pretty good, and you can get a beach towel for 1.5 euros. In front of the hotel, there are a bunch of sunbeds and umbrellas that you can get for free if you buy drinks (usually spending 10 euros would be enough).
I would definitely come back to this hotel!
On a sidestreet off the main seafront road, but ideally positioned for beach access and supermarket, both under 5 mins walk. About a 30min level walk along the beachfront to the heart of the old town, a little bit of exercise after a day on the beach!
Very clean and very comfortable, spacious, well air-conditioned, good appliances.
Lovely Riad style Hotel with pool in the old town. Spacious room & bathroom with kitchenette, jug & fridge. Good buffet breakfast served in pleasant surroundings. Close to cafes/restaurants, Port & tourist sites. 5min taxi ride with luggage from main bus station to near the Port then few minutes walk to Hotel. Air con & wifi
Lovely big room with enormous balcony. Bus stop for the short ride into town was outside the hotel and there was a new supermarket opposite. So comfortable we stayed an extra (fourth) night.
The lane opposite lead to the beachfront and the east scenic walk into the old town.
Helpful, friendly staff.
