Casa Qatzig is a good place to meet other travelers. I hiked up Atitlán Volcano with two other guests, for example, which was great! The rooms are reasonably priced. The volunteer staff members are nice and full of good information and they put together a useful little guidebook for guests of things to do and places to go. The shared bathroom was kept clean. The Wifi worked well. The place is easy to find and the location is very central overall. There's a nice outdoor seating area/garden.

Place was good. Excellent location. Bathroom water wasn’t draining well and the beds were a little uncomfortable.

We stayed in the Santa Clara suite; the design and details were beautiful.
Everything else fell short.
It started with our drive from Antigua. The shortest fastest route is via route 1 to route 11, and then right onto the dirt road near Agua Escondida, which we took. The only problem was that the road was closed because "it is impassable" according to locals at the intersection. This re-route, and back track, added 45 minutes to our trip. One would think that a Relais Chateaux would alert their guests, most of which likely come from Antigua, that the fastest route is not available. Not a luxury experience...
When we finally got to the hotel, nobody was at the gate, so we had to call the hotel and wait for them to call someone to come to open the gate.,.. Not a luxury experience...
At check in, I asked for 2 keys and they said they don't do that; only 1 key per room. Later that day, we were up at the Villa hot tub, which is over a 5 min walk up a steep driveway. I left back to the room before my wife, forgetting she had the key, and ended up at our room keyless, so I had to walk back to the reception, and they still wouldn't give me a 2nd key. I had to wait for someone to come back to my room to let me in. Not a luxury experience.

Not sure exactly how I picked this resort, my guess is the absolutely breathtaking view. Particularly, from the infinity pool or the balcony of the suite we were at. I recommend staying a few nights since you will not be able to get enough of the view of Lake Atitlán and its surrounding volcanoes. The property is parched on steep hill which is definitely a climb, but the grounds are well kept, a clean and gorgeous place to relax. The breakfast was great. The staff beautiful and friendly. They recommended a personalized boat tour of the lake that was quite phenomenal.
