This luxurious AA 4-star hotel is a haven of peace and quiet, on the beautiful shores of Lough Ree, by Athlone Golf Course.

Customer service v poor, chaotic service in the bar restaurant for lunch and dinner. Breakfast again was chaotic. Very poor management in restaurant areas

when i arrived at the radisson i thought breakfast was included but it wasn't ..and the 7 euro charge for delivery was a con..overall i felt the radisson was trying to con more money out of me..sunday night we stayed in cliftden at the station view..the room was much bigger, breakfast was better and breakfast was included in the room which cost 103 euro for the night which was a deal for that night..i felt they were trying to do more for us than the radisson .

There is a wide range of activities for visitors to Athlone.

There is a wide range of activities for visitors to Athlone. Visitors also have access to numerous eating venues and pubs. One if the oldest pubs in Ireland, certified by the Guinness Book of records, is located on the riverside and within easy reacy of the town centre. The Castle museum provides an excellent historical overview of Athlone's past. Well worth a visit.

I was visiting a friend from my Baltimore USA days, really just 48 hours, her family live in Athlone. There is much to see in Athlone, I was centrally located near the river. There is a train station, and last visit we went to Galway. I could have stayed longer

Athlone has a lengthy and storied history.

Athlone has a lengthy and storied history. Quite interesting to roam the town, view the castle/cathedrals and walk the picturesque streets. We selected Athlone because it gave us easy train access to most of Ireland's main tourist attractions, as well as allowing us to get on/off at small towns. The trains run frequently and are easy to use. Be careful to choose a hotel (like the Radisson Blu) that is easy walking distance to the train station. BTW, the train station staff were always helpful with buying tickets, ensuring we were on the right platform, etc. If you enjoy walking, the Greenway Trail and the paths along both sides of the Shannon (south of the bridge) are really, really, cool! Lastly, for those rainy days, there are several very nice shopping centers.

We chosed Athlone as a scale to the west.

We chosed Athlone as a scale to the west. And we actually liked the town more than a hyper-touristic city like Galway. It has the right size to park your car and walk to restaurants. The castle and the river and its streets are quite nice and clean.

Truly excellent! Really exceeded all expectations; for the fantastic value I was expecting bog standard, but this is one of the nicest hotel experiences in Ireland! We had dinner in the restaurant, absolutely beautiful, fresh produce, gorgeous cocktails, couldn't fault it. The location is PERFECT, all the pubs and restaurants are literally on your doorstep. The pool was excellent, room was excellent, comfortable clean and modern. Staff were all very friendly and helpful; 10 stars! Will definitely be back regularly.

The location and privacy of the room was more than adequate for the time that I had spent in the room. The location was similar to where I had stayed in the last time that I had been in Athlone, and is very central to the town. While my standards for walkability are wildly different than most people's (I wouldn't decline a walking trip to Roscommon, for example), I felt like the town as a whole had a very accessible vibe and the location of this hotel was very conducive to that ideal.
