The location right in the heart of the Temple bar is the big selling point for this hotel. We were on the second floor but couldn'r hear a peep from the festivities below.
The rooms were small but clean and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The common corridor areas are a bit jaded but I'm sure they see a lot of traffic especially with the competitive rates for a stay - it deserves to be popular. We loved the late check out time of 12.00 especially since we'd overdone sampling the Irish welcome the previous evening. We did not have breakfast so we can't comment on the quality but we would definitely stay here again.
Overlooking the Grand Canal in Dublin 2, Clayton Hotel Charlemont boasts a shared lounge, Red Bean Roastery, Lockside Bar/Social and Gaudens Restaurant. The hotel is an 8-minute walk from St.

Everything was perfect! The staff was super kind and helpful, we were received at the check-in by Neval who upgraded our room and gave us all details we needed, the room was clean and very comfy, the breakfast was very good and the location was super convenient, everything was near (city centre, stores, pubs) and yet we were in a quiet place. We would gladly come back to stay at this hotel.

Dublin is home to more than a quarter of the entire Republic of Ireland’s population and was originally founded as a Viking settlement. A lot has changed from those Viking days, and Dublin is now famous for its literary history and the most green-spaces of any other European capital, making Dublin a real Irish gem.
Dublin Castle is at the heart of the city's history and Trinity College holds the renowned Book of Kells, a beautifully illustrated manuscript from circa 800 AD. The Ha’penny Bridge is the city’s most photographed landmark and the statue of Molly Malone celebrates the heroine of Dublin’s unofficial anthem.
Dublin is home to many important literary figures including Oscar Wilde, William Yeats, Samuel Beckett and George Bernard Shaw. As the famous location of James Joyce’s “Ulysses”, the city offers tours tracing the protagonist’s footsteps.
Being one of the most youthful European cities, Dublin has a vibrant nightlife scene with the popular Temple Bar area and plenty of bars and pubs, which invite you to stay out until the wee hours of the morning.
The Dublin Airport is the gateway to your Irish holiday, so whether you’re looking for a stylish hotel, a self-catering apartment or a trendy hostel, Booking.com has a perfect deal for your Dublin trip.
We were in town with our teenage sons during St. Patrick's Day festivities and had a blast. We went to the parade, enjoyed the Jameson/Guinness tour, had great meals, and visited several pubs. Dublin is a very walkable city with easy public transportation. Our best meals were at the Woolen Mills and Bartleys at the Grafton Hotel. Can't wait to return!

So much to do in such a small city!
So much to do in such a small city! I spent 2 nights and 3 days but could easily have stayed another couple of nights. There are some great value tourist passes that make visiting lots of museums, galleries and attractions really affordable. I just ran out of time! So much for everyone, whether you want history, culture, nature... and I even had 3 beautiful days of sunshine too ( sadly not guaranteed!)
I got a visitor Leap card on arrival at Airport, initially only bought a one day card but you can top it up again, up to 5 times. It made getting on public transport so much quicker and easier.

Dublin is a beautiful city, clean, tidy and well organized.
Dublin is a beautiful city, clean, tidy and well organized. The main tourist attractions are in the center and can be visited on foot. I have seen wonderful things (Museum, important Churches, Treasures, Library, Castle, Trinity College, Breweries, etc.) and well maintained. The people are nice and are always available to help you and provide useful information. The city is populated by many young people (Trinity College hosts over 20,000) and there are many nice clubs, bars and restaurants. People appear serene and happy. There are many patrols of three policemen who instill a sense of security. The only problem I had was at the security checks at the Airport (on the way back) where a zealous policeman practically made me undress in a small room, obviously without finding anything strange or illegal, but with a bit of arrogant manner.

Dublin, you absolute gem.
Dublin, you absolute gem.
I genuinely didn’t expect the city to be this amazing. The people? Warm, witty, and wonderfully friendly. The vibes? Easy-going and full of soul. The food and culture? So rich and comforting. And let’s not even pretend I’d forget to talk about Guinness—smooth, creamy, and honestly the best I’ve ever had.
And now I know why it tastes that good—the drinking water in Dublin is insanely fresh and delicious. Who knew I’d be raving about tap water on a trip? But honestly, it’s that pure. No wonder Guinness hits different here.
Getting around was super easy with great public transport. You can explore most of Dublin in 2 days if you're on a tight schedule, but if you really want to live like a local, take a few more.
I stayed 5 days, though 3 were spent road-tripping across Ireland—from wild coasts to serene valleys—and let me just say, Ireland is something else. The landscapes, the air, the energy… it’s mesmerising. A week wasn’t enough.
Already itching to go back and explore more. This one's going to stay with me for a while. 🍀❤️

We visited Dublin as it was near where our sons live but we don't like cities so we spent very little time in Dublin itself which is busy, noisy, lively, and full of overseas visitors and students. There are pubs and cafes everywhere so eating and drinking is not a problem! However, it is a good place to be a base for visiting the prettier areas like Howth and Bray, the Mountains, etc. Public transport seemed good although we only used The Dart to go to visit family.

Bar with live music very entertaining, Temple Bar area very vibrant but very expensive for drinks, €10.45 for a pint of Guinness made about a mile away in The Temple Bar. Value breakfast try a Wetherspoons. Trams great for getting around. Dublin Express quickest way from Airport to City Centre. Plenty of nice parks. Some good places to eat if you search them out. Great food at The Quays Restaurant, traditional Irish fayre. The Celt Bar on Talbot Street well worth a visit.

Location was perfect for city centre. Room was a good size, lovely and clean. House maids and all staff very friendly. I come to Ireland on a regular basis to meet family. I will definitely be staying here again. I stayed in a triple room with friends. They loved it too. My elderly parents also stayed in the hotel. They were very happy with the location and the facilities. I left some clothing behind. The hotel rang me and have kindly put them in the post.
This hotel is very central to the city centre. The staff were very helpful . The room was perfect for the three brothers sharing & meeting up for the All -Ireland final. They enjoyed their stay & will definitely stay again.
Blooms hotel wil always be my first option for city centre Dublin. Walking distance to everything. The rooms are clean and comfortable, no bells and whistles but lives up to expectations.
Well located, comfortable hotel near Dublin City centre. Some decent eating and drinking options nearby. Near tram to city centre and main train stations.
