Parking was very expensive and a pain to get to from hotel. There is no proper connection door.
Prices and menu in bar restaurant were very expensive for essentially pub grub.. wasn't anything fancy.
Pool area was a bit grubby but overall the hotel was nice.

We loved that the two-bedroom apartment was spotless and it gave us tons of room to spread out with our 6 month old, who had a cot in the second bedroom. All the linen, bath towels and cookware appeared new and very clean. The main thing we disliked about the apartment was the design of the space. There were so many doors that led to each room from a main hallway and the front door. It would have been helpful to have door stops at least, so we could keep some of the doors open, since we have a baby and need to be able to hear her from every room. There was also a ton of signage about fire hazards, which was a bit alarming. This is not something we are used to in the US. We just had one night though, so we made it work and, overall, had a very comfortable stay.

The hosts are awesome, location is great if you want to see east -southeast Ireland, away from noisy cities in a heartwarming rural setting among farms, but 4 km away from the highway.
Ard na Gréine is located in Stradbally, just 17 miles from County Carlow Military Museum and 17 miles from Carlow College.

We were hoping for a spacious and quiet place to stay the night after 18+ hours of travel, and this was perfect. Easy drive from DUB airport, fantastic host (Siobhan) was so accommodating and had even purchased gluten free bread and granola for us, and everything was exactly as described. We regretted not staying longer but already had the next hotel booked. Next time we’ll stay a week!

Breakfast was excellent, staff was very helpful, we also get to meet our favorite chef. He was excellent in 2018.
We got stuck in Heritage in 2018 for 4 days and everyone was very good to take care of us. We got the snow storm in the hotel, but we did not care. We’re well care for.
Thank you Heritage staff.

Wanted to eat in proper Irish pub with live music as we have done at several other locations. Loads of bars, none serving food. Plenty of takeaways but didn’t want to sit on a bench to eat. Stayed at end of holiday so wanted to take home some local produce, cheese, bread, cakes but just one supermarket selling same as UK. Handy stopping off point between Killarney and Dublin but little else going for it

The town is not what we expected!
The town is not what we expected! There are so many pubs and restaurants who do both sit down and take away meals. Lots of live music coming from several pubs walking up and down the town. Very nice place! Only 50 minutes from the Red Cow so we were able to get the Luas into Dublin. Although we drove ourselves, we saw lots of taxis so I'd imagine it's very easy to get around.

I reviewed Harry Potter Themed guest house, in the house room 4. The response I received was appalling to say the least. To say I should have booked the Hilton because I mentioned we had to collect our key from a table, with no one to give us bath towels that were not supplied in the bathroom and that the shower was dirty and not cleaned since last person used it and foul smell in the bathroom. Also no fire escape plan and dangerous exposed wires for the lighted cotton wool over the bed is childish and insulting. I am not posh in any way. Just expect a clean safe room. This is not a response anyone should expect from any accommodation.

Portlaoise is well located in the midlands of Ireland about 1 hour S East of Dublin. There are many historical, cultural and scenic locations in close proximity and it is a great stop over if travelling further south to Cork Kerry and further afield- - but dont just stop over spend a few days exploring the area of Laois - The Slieve Bloom mountains, The Rock of Dunamaise, several golf courses, fishing, cycling, the round tower of Timahoe, Stradbally steam museum and a host of other places too!!
The town is just off junction 16 & 17 of the M7 motorway and has great bus and train service too. There are a variety of hotels & b&B available with urban and rural locations to suit your budget.
Check it out! : )

A massive thank you to Deidra and Rita on Reception who pulled out all the stops to make our home away from home while working when we needed to move room due to the noise outside our first floor window from 11pm to 2,30 am . We managed to move rooms for the second nights stay and thank you for making the experience more comfortable by what you both did - THANK YOU ! We will definitely be coming back to stay at the Killeshin Hotel.
This was our first time staying at the Iveigh House Hotel, Portlaoise, from the arrival to our check out time everything was excellent. The personal touches, greeting upon arrival, early check requested, a location with tons of character, centrally located and a breakfast which was superb, well done !
Hotel has a very nice setup, with the restaurant and the bar, rooms are comfortable and staff very helpful. Breakfast is good with the great choice of warm breakfast.
