Ajmer is an old city and the area near the railway station/hotel is poor and dilapidated. This will challenge some tourists. Not all local people are friendly but many are very friendly, helpful and curious about where you come from. I am female and was travelling on my own and found Ajmer to be a safe city. The Khwaja Muin-ud-din Chishti dargah and neighbouring bazaar streets are fascinating to see and a highlight of my trip!!!!!!Guest review byDohertyAustralia - Review score2.0

It is pretty and well maintained.The staff is very helpful, attentive and trustworthy ,an absolute requirement for a solo family traveller.
