Although the room was a little smaller than I expected, I can’t complain. The beds were very comfortable, room was clean, shower was really nice and all front desk staff we encountered were GREAT! We were able to check in early without issue, when I went to buy a bottle of water the front desk gal let me know the tap water there was drinkable (which I was hesitant about) but it was good and saved us money, and when we had last minute issues with our pre-booked transportation to the main bus station the front desk lady - at midnight - booked us a taxi for 3am. There are plenty of areas to hang out in the hotel, too, like the little library, lobby near the fire, community table and conference room. We liked being by the marina and within walking distance to the Lava Show and downtown.

The room was clean and tidy. The bed was very comfortable. However, the room was not soundproof and I could hear traffic noise from the outside. Fortunately, it’s not crowded during my stay, so I could sleep without problem. My room was on the third floor and I found that the water from shower was quite weak. Moreover, the room used the warm light to create the cozy ambience, which was ok, but the light was too dim so that I could not pack my luggage well.

Located in the heart of downtown, the hotel is surrounded by lively bars, restaurants, and nightly live music until 11pm from the bar in our building.

This is my second time staying here and I would always choose this hotel because of the location. So close to bus stop 6 (about a 5 minute walk with a New York walking pace). So many shops nearby. The grocery store is nearby as well. Located right around the corner from rainbow street. I walked everywhere. It is self service but the supplies were stocked. It’s on top of a restaurant so you may get some food smells. Also located on a strip with 2-3 bars so if you have the window open you will hear some noise but they provide free earplugs. Only con were the pillows - they were really flat and uncomfortable

This is the perfect location next to the cathedral. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Breakfast buffet was very nice, make sure you book that in your rate. The room was warm and welcoming With easily controlled temperature. I enjoyed my stay very much and would highly recommend this hotel.

Newly renovated during the spring of 2023, Hotel Local 101 is an independent hotel quietly tucked away in the heart of downtown Reykjavik, on a charming street made up of classical Icelandic homes.

The hotel is just off the main strip of all the shopping & eating, but close enough to just walk there. The staff, from the front desk to the lady who set up daily breakfast were all very friendly, approachable and attentive. I stayed for 4 nights, got in at 8am from the airport the first day. They have a nice area set aside to store my luggage, use the bathroom and freshen up. All much appreciated after a long flight.
