The hotel is in a great location about 30 minutes drive from Gullfoss waterfall, so it makes the perfect overnight stopover on the Golden Circle. It was very peaceful which was lovely after a busy day of exploring. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was lovely too! There’s no restaurant onsite but there are two places right across the street with delicious options.

Brand new cabin, so everything was immaculate. Lovely private hot tub to relax in and the cabin we were in wasn’t overlooked at all, just looking out on to beautiful views. Well equipped kitchen and spacious inside & out. Perfect spot for a relaxing evening after a busy day exploring.

Perfect cabin for our trip to the Golden Circle. Really well located and a comfortable space. The hot tub was amazing! A beautiful setting with Mountain views. The only thing that could have been better was that the kitchen included very limited cutlery - e.g. only 3 spoons for 4 of us. But otherwise perfect.
We loved everything! The glass bubble and the hot tub outside are fantastic additions to this lovely cottage. Our host was very helpful and patience, response quick. We had the most amazing and memorable 3 nights here!

Reykholt is a nice little village on the golden circle.
Reykholt is a nice little village on the golden circle. It has a little grocery shop in the petrol station with hot dogs and ice cream. There are also the Mika and Friðheimar restaurants, both worth a visit. The outdoor swimming pool, playgrounds and sport facilities are fantastic for the kids. Take a short walk up to the top of the hill for some amazing views.

This is one of our favourite areas to book for weekends away from Reykjavík. We enjoy the local hikes, waterfalls (and also Restaurant Mika!). With Secret Lagoon nearby as well as the Golden Circle being within a short drive, there is plenty to do. This visit we also checked out the Hrunalaug hot springs which were fab!

The Restaurant Mika was a welcoming place, since we were traveling the Golden circle late and were worried we wouldn't have anything to eat before arriving at the amazing Blue Hotel Fagrilundur. We thought the restaurant would close at 9pm on the Monday night, but we saw they kept letting travellers in well past 9pm. And the food was wonderful! And they accommodated my partner's gluten and sugar intolerance so nicely, by even cooking the potatoes on a separate pan from the others.
We would come back to Reykholt and Restaurant Mika and the Blue Hotel again and stay longer!

Self check-in and check-out was super easy! The main building is modern, new, clean and the "cafeteria" where the breakfast was served is a log house which has a warm cozy vibe.
There are 2 hottubs between the rooms and the log house so 2 groups can enjoy them in the same time separately and don't disturb each other. Its temperature is around 42C and it is amazing.
Greenhouse is next to the hotel, so worth visiting it (book it advance). Small market and a restaurant is in 2 minutes walk.
What a beautiful house! Solveig, the host, was friendly and helpful. Everything was neat and clean. We were two very happy families, 4 adults and 2 children, and there was more than enough space for everyone. The house is well equipped and the jacuzzi and sauna were fantastic. Nice spot on the golden circle in the little village of Reykholt with its swimming pool, shop, restaurants, playgrounds, football pitches, greenhouses and more. Thank you!
Very cozy small cabine, located nearby Iceland's Golden Circle (some spots are only 20 minutes away). There is a small kitchen in the cabine you can use and a fridge for your groceries.
The contact with the owner is very good, they are friendly and give you some informations about the nicest spots around.
This stay marked our two first days in Iceland. Therefore, it was great to find it in such good shape. A good base for exploring popular spots nearby, such as Thingvellir, Geysir, and Gullfoss.
