I like how I finally had a bed and pillow that was supportive enough for me on this trip. Breakfast was included in my payment and it was good value. The staff interacted with me in a way that was good enough to overcome language barriers. Bathroom was clean and spacious. My whole room was presentable and cozy enough.
The downsides are this property is out in Timbuktu, but can fortunately be reached by the Nagoya expressway bus. This place looks like it hasn’t seen a second coat of paint in years with unfinished drywall in plain sight on the ceilings with these cords dangling out and peeling wallpaper. It’s a “love hotel” too, which at first gives the place a creepy, unsettling vibe. At least the staff were friendly so that it didn’t feel like I was staying at Dracula’s castle. The hallways are dimly lit, which made it feel like I’m in a brothel. One time the rear door was locked and I couldn’t open a door leading to reception so I had to sneak through a narrow hallway blocked by a plant to access the front door. Seemed unnecessary to put it there. Finally, there was this grating music playing in the hallways that stopped in the late evening. This made it hard to communicate with staff as it interfered with what I was saying in the talk-to-text translate app we were using. Not helpful when one needs to sleep as well when they need all the energy and willpower they can muster to attend a massive event such as a Grand Prix.

The location is excellent, very close to shopping areas, restaurants, and convenience stores. The surrounding area is also quiet, which made for a peaceful stay.
However, there were a few downsides. The toilet seat was broken, and only one pillow was provided, which wasn’t very comfortable. We also lost one key card and were charged ¥1000, which seemed unreasonable. Most hotels reuse key cards, and the cost to replace them is usually minimal, so the charge felt excessive.
Located a 5-minute walk from JR Nagoya Train Station, The Royal Park Canvas Nagoya offers free WiFi throughout the property and a high level of security.

The Location is perfect. It's 1 ride and 3 stops from Nagoya station via subway sakuradori line and 6 minutes walk from Hisaya odori station. It's Walking distance from Oasis 21 (a very nice park and sightseeing place) and an underground Mall/Food Park. Rooms are average but may be a little small if you are a big or tall person. Breakfast buffet was wonderful and complimentary. Staff were polite and cheerful. There is a family mart a few walks away from the hotel as well.
