The family that owns the guesthouse was super nice. The room had a/c which worked perfectly! We appreciated the private, gated parking as we had rented vehicles. We also loved that there was a refrigerator where we could store some items.

This is a larger town than most of the little villages in the mountains on the main highway running between Bishkek and Osh. There is plenty to do in the area if you like hiking and walking, so people seem to stay a few days and use this town as the base, otherwise the town is well placed as a stopover on a long mountain drive. There are a few guesthouses in and near town centre, they seem to offer tours, car hire and lots of information about what to do, how and where to go - if you ask - nothing is spruiked or overtly promoted. In town there are a few dining options, fuel stations on the roads in/out, and small grocery stores for supplies. The town is quite flat so walking was easy although the smaller streets are unsealed, bumpy and narrow like they are in most of the country. The houses have big fences and gates facing the street with courtyards behind offering cool and shaded gardens. The locals seemed fairly friendly, kids were playing outside and having fun, people were doing repairs and maintenance around the community.
