This brand new hotel ticked all the boxes! Excellent location in a newly developing area. Lots of eateries nearby; a jogging trail around the lake at the back of the property; walking trails in local parks across the road, and all just 5km away from historic Hahoe Village. Our room overlooked what will soon be another major development, but is currently just an empty section (I would recommend requesting a room at the back overlooking the lake). Everything in the room was wonderful - morning sun; double glazing (so absolutely no road noise); great shower; wonderful toiletries (shampoo/conditioner/body wash); a mini fridge; daily cleaning; comfie bed; lots of charging points and plugs. The breakfast buffet is the best we have had yet on our trip, and definitely recommended, with both western food (hash browns, bacon, pastries, coffee), along with multiple Korean dishes. We used the gym for a back/biceps weight session, and while the equipment is a little limited, there is still enough for a good workout (a full dumbell set up to 20kg, abductor/adductor machine, hyper-extension machine, Smith rack, and two incline benches). This is the second Stanford hotel we have stayed at on our tour of the country, and they are all obviously top notch!!!
Galleria Hotel is conveniently located 100 metres from Andong Culture Street and 250 metres from Andong Station. The hotel houses both Western- and Korean-style guest rooms with free WiFi access.

Great buffet breakfast included, consisting of a freshly fried egg, cereal, toast, noodles, juice, tea/coffee etc. Our room was very spacious and clean/comfortable with a tv. We liked having a fridge in our room, and there was also a computer to use if needed. Great location for sightseeing and for the market.

The location! Super close to the KTX station and bus station for the shuttle to the Folk Village. Comms were beyond excellent - I had a super late train and they were super considerate about this and left me a lovely welcome note on the door with clear instructions. The room was beyond excellent, true Korean living! Shame I couldn’t stay for more days

This is a very small town by Korean standards and not frequented by foreign travellers. Prepare to be noticed if you are visibly non-Korean. The people are very friendly though and some people wanted to come and ask us why we had chosen to come to Andong given its small size.
Andong has a couple of nice traditional villages where you can see the traditional way of living in Korea. The area is also known for soju production and we had some really good soju there. The food was good, you should especially try jjimdak when in Andong. The bakery Mammoth is also worth visiting.
Our experience was that most people don't speak fluent English there, so I would recommend having a translating app if you don't speak or write Korean.
I would recommend Andong as a destination, especially if you are looking to escape the big cities for something more relaxed.

A great little town - with some excellent food and plenty of worthwhile sightseeing spots. There is a very efficient and good-value bus systemT. ahoe Hanoi Village is a must, and a bus trip out to Yeggi (Yekki) is very worthwhile, especially if the weather is fine.

This city has an interesting food streets area (east end) which is lovely for a dinner out. It has a few historic bits and pieces to see in the this part of town, plus an interesting market and mural village. It is, of course, the stop off place for Hahoe Folk Village.
Be warned that the Express Bus Terminal is located 5Km from the centre so you'll need to catch a city centre bus into town. The train station is also located here. Note that the Geongjin line train station, however, is located in the eastern part of the city, near the food streets.
Travelling on the local buses can be confusing as they run on a loop and journeys go on forever. Catching a taxi is well worth it to save on bus aggravation!

We chose to visit Andong mainly to visit Hahoe hill village but decided to spend an extra night there to see the Andong folk village and the surrounding areas, as well as the Soju museum and the restaurants located more centrally. It is a large city by area and on reflection, it may have been useful to have a car, however, the taxis were very reasonably priced through NAVER and also reliable, which made getting between the often spread out tourist attractions relatively easy.

Andong itself doesn't really have any major tourist attractions, it's a place to sleep before or after visiting Hahoe folk village. It's a calm, pleasant city to spend a day or even two though,

We will only able to see some of the sights we planned to see because of transport difficulties. Some of the sites were more than an hour by bus from our hotel. Also, one of the sites, Imcheonggak House was under renovation and we could not visit. The chief attraction is the Andong Hahoe Folk Village and the adjacent Mask Museum. For those of you who are interested in soju, there is a Soju and Traditional Korean Food museum.

This was one of my favourite stays during my trip to Korea. The property is beautiful, and transports you back in time with the aesthetic but also provides modern comforts to make the stay easy and relaxing. Jukheon’s host is very helpful, kind and knowledgeable as his family have owned the property for 140 years. Andong is a great town and i found the buses and taxis easy to navigate. It snowed during my stay and it made the feeling even more magical. I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to experience traditional Korea.
The staff at Okyeon Jeongsa were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay - they even offered to pick us up from Hahoe folk village as we didn't have a car, and helped us to book a taxi back to the train station when we checked out. The breakfast was delicious and was served in a room with a beautiful view of the river. Me and my family had an unforgettable experience staying in this hanok, and we highly recommend Okyeon Jeongsa to anyone who is looking to visit Andong!
This hotel has all of the comforts which one would expect, and it is close to the centre of town and local buses. The blackout curtains will give you a great night's sleep if that's what you are after.
Clean and comfortable room close to where you want to be when staying in Andong. It was cold but the heater blanket worked very well and kept my warm throughout the night.
