Boseong – 10 hotels and places to stay

Providing garden views, Golmangtae Pension in Boseong features accommodations, a garden, and a bar. This beachfront property offers access to a terrace and free Wifi.

The pension is very near to the tea farm, the owner is a very nice person, he even dropped us to the farm with his car. No English at all which it makes everything quite difficult if you need something. You have to choose Papago to communicate… The room needs some kind of renovation, towels given are only small size. No chair in the room. The room was extremely heated. Not very much to eat even the owner cooked us a chicken soup my GF couldn’t eat:-(

Jinrae Lee's Traditional House offers accommodations in Boseong, 17 miles from Nagan Eupseong Folk Village and 26 miles from Suncheonman Bay National Garden.

The house was in an amazingly good shape with their traditional architectural style intact! While the bathrooms were not attached to the bedrooms because the house could not be remodeled to change the existing structure (as it is designated as a Protected Traditional House), each bedroom had an assigned private bathroom with a good shower and fancy amenities. This probably is the closest you can get living like a Josun Dynasty aristocrat in the modern day Korea. The owner lady was very helpful in providing tips for restaurants and things to do and see and very attentive to our comfort. While it is conveniently located (if you have a rental car) to explore the whole South Western provinces of Korea (UNESCO World Heritage Site tidal flats!), I thought that just staying in the house perched on the wooden floor looking out beautiful trees and drying persimmons with a book in hand itself was a huge treat. I would definitely stay here again!

Offering a garden, Big Blue House provides accommodations in Boseong. This property offers access to a balcony, free private parking, and free Wifi.

I liked how this is a real home built for a member of this small farming community. It felt like a privilege to stay here. While there were limited modern or Western comforts (I was way too tall for the doorways and hit my head multiple times), we chose to stay here to have a traditional Korean experience and adapted out expectations accordingly. The host was very friendly and helpful. The setting is beautiful and peaceful. We woke up to the sound of birds.

I travelled from Seoul to Boseong specifically to visit the green tea fields. While the journey from Gwangju to Boseong took longer than expected, I still had ample time at the green tea fields (approx 3hrs). I then travelled some distance to stay off the beaten path at the Traditional Korean House (on a private green tea plantation). Day 2, I returned to Seoul via Train from Boseong to Gwangju and KTX from Gwangju to Seoul. A great weekend away. And if I'd caught an earlier train Saturday morning, I would have added a a visit to the sea. Overall, well worth it.

If you don't have car it may be difficult, so don't take too much luggage ! The bus is working well ! We went during winter season so there're not too much things open...but we still can find some restaurants.
