Came across on Booking.com and truly was worth the money. Perfect location, spacious and clean rooms with a beautiful sea view, extremely helpful staff (Shami & Madushanka), awesome food! Overall very happy with place! The outdoor restaurant is the perfect place to chill in the evening!

We were a bit dubious when booking this hotel, due to the low price, but it far exceeded our expectations! Some building work going on at the front meant you walked through the carpark to Reception, which was a bit odd. Noise from construction didn't disturb us at all. The room was fresh, clean with good ac, shower, kettle, tv and comfy bed. Big shout out to the member of staff who looked out for us at breakfast. Don't think they had many Westerners staying, so breakfast was 'interesting!'  If you're looking for a place to stay to do the Crocodile Safari, it's perfect, just a short walk. We actually saw a 5m Crocodile on our boat ride, in the river, opposite the hotel!! 🐊

We really liked the accommodation. It's right on the beach with private sun loungers and parasols - that was the deciding factor for us when booking. The complex is very clean, the staff is very friendly and you feel very comfortable. The pool is also clean and the water is pleasant. The sea is a bit stormier but you can go in easily. We were very happy with the room, it was a great size, clean and the balcony with sea view was perfect for relaxing. The shower had great water pressure and the size of the bathroom was adequate. The breakfast was very extensive and definitely too much for us (less could be offered here).

It’s really relaxed in a fabulous beach location. Brilliant staff especially Janaka the manager. I have been travelling around but keep coming back here.

The guys in the restaurant hut made our stay!! Super friendly! We booked two rooms. Location was very close to this gem of a beach!!! Spacious rooms. Huge windows which overlooked neighbouring open lush area. Breakfast is a 40 metre walk to beachfront restaurant hut.

We had the most incredible time at Shades, what a treat it was! It’s tucked away in a quiet spot amongst all the incredible nature. I’ve seen so much wild life during my stay there is no need to go for a safari tour. Waking up in the morning to the sounds of the jungle, starting my day with a swim in a beautiful huge pool and a delicious breakfast by the amazing team. Hospitality is outstanding, your every need is anticipated! Food was incredible, great variety and very balanced flavours. Room was so comfortable, I had the best sleep and a phenomenal view. Location was also great, all the beaches are so easily accessible and I enjoyed being away from all the hassle and busyness of the town, returning to this peaceful sanctuary after exploring around. Can’t wait to be back, thank you team!
