EVERYthing about this property was wonderful from the moment we arrived. Our luggage was scooped up by a friendly staff member, we were served tea and sweets in a beautiful lounge and greeted by the manager with his orange scarf. All is top notch and delightful in all directions. Our room was beautiful and spacious. The inner garden and dining room is beautiful and the food was delicious and creative. Room service was quick and very accommodating. There were many nice amenities and the surrounding area was so much fun to explore day and night. We loved being near the sea and adventuring in the active fishing port. I highly recommend this property. The staff were so professional, helpful and friendly. There is a wonderful grace about this place.

We had a fantastic stay! The place is very friendly, with brand-new facilities and located in a quiet area—perfect for relaxation. Mo and Anne made us feel at home with their warm, family-like approach. The highlight of our stay was the delicious chicken tajine, absolutely fantastic!
Another great perk is that you can buy high-quality argan oil directly from local producers nearby. Mo was incredibly helpful in guiding us to the best products at great prices. Highly recommended!

We stayed 2 nights (Feb 15-17) with Maison 250 in a Superior Room.
Why do we easily give an excellent rating?
The lovely, super hospitable owners and managers Chris and Craig
The Riad was remodeled by them to an extremely upscale and tasteful standard
Just opened in Sep 2024 - everything brand new
Extremely tasteful, thought through and high-end interior and decoration
Great location just behind the medina wall at the south-east corner in the medina with a few minutes’ walk to the parking place (if you have your own car as we had this is very handy)
We loved our room on the upper floor with windows to the outside and to the atrium - a lot of day light in the room which is not common for Riads.
Room was big and cozy at the same time.
Great roof terraced.
A clear top recommendation!
Follow the recommendation of the owners for restaurants (we e.g. loved La Couple within a 15-minute walk)
The riad is a perfect relaxed fit to the relaxed atmosphere of Essaouira.
This is an easy return for us (we live in the NL and there are convenient flights to Essaouira)

This is a beautiful property in a great location—well-designed, tastefully decorated, and impeccably clean. However, the front desk service fell far short of the hotel’s overall quality.
If the staff’s professionalism matched the investment put into the property, this could have been a top-tier stay. Unfortunately, the gentleman who checked us in was borderline rude, disengaged, and unhelpful throughout our visit.
For a small, charming hotel where details truly matter, service should be a priority. A little more warmth and attentiveness from the front desk would make all the difference.

Essaouira has developed from a hippie hangout to become a top Morocco beach resort with good surfing conditions. Its 18th-century medina is almost European in feel and narrow streets lead under low arches past fragrant spice stalls and local artisans selling everything from wood carvings to faience pottery.
Dotted around the souk are many traditional-style riads on Booking.com, hidden behind tiled façades and blue doors. Other Essaouira accommodation options include luxury hotels with swimming pools, cheap apartments, and B&Bs near Essaouira Airport.
Also bright blue are the rowing boats bobbing gently in small harbours sheltered by the Scala of the Port, a wide walkway with ramparts through which several historic cannons poke out. At the end is the Citadel, a small fortress overlooking Mogador Island - the largest of the Iles Purpuraires, so-called for the purple shells found in their rocks that were once used to produce dyes for Roman senator togas.
Another fortress – Bordj El Berod – lies in pieces on the long, sandy beach south of the marina. In the opposite direction the coastline is more rocky and lined by the Scala of the Kasbah, the crenellated walls protecting the medina. Horseriding and camel safaris are available on the beach and you can also visit a Berber village inland.

Essaouira is a magical coastal town, with a well preserved Médina which is well geared up to support tourists without being over the top. It retains its original charm and has a myriad of fine restaurants… ke cle de voutee being one of the finer restaurants… monkfish with a creamy saffron sauce! We ate their twice, and a very good choice of local wines.

I travelled from Marrakech to spend one night in Essaouira and take in the sea air. I stayed in the old town and thoroughly enjoyed myself with the medina and the sea combined. It is a bit softer than Marrakech which can be quite intense and the people more forceful, so it was a nice change. Streets are much more dirty than Marrakech (the vendors there clean regularly their space during the day and evening) Lots of food on the streets of Essaouira but it wouldn't put me off visiting again.

Essaouira is special.
Essaouira is special. The locals are kind and welcoming and the pace of life much calmer than Marrakech. If you’re looking for a beer drenched, party atmosphere with loads of venues for British revellers - this won’t be for you; however if you’re looking to experience a different culture, its local arts and crafts and strong sense of community identity, along side delicious local healthy food (with plenty of vegetarian options), as well as sun, sea and surfing in February, then come and enjoy Essaouira.
NB:Those allergic to cats need not apply as there is a huge cat population.
We definitely hope to return one day.

Second time we have visited, this time with our daughter. Great setting, long sandy beach, castle walls, fab rooftop restaurants, great music and art scene. Relaxed, hippy vibe and stunning sunsets. Fish market/eaterie on front by port is just wonderful - choose your fresh fish and have it cooked in front of you. Great escape from the hustle and bustle of Marrakech - souks much more chilled, cleaner and no haggling or harassing. Just lovely.

Low key coastal town with a brilliant beach and lots of arty places, eateries and cafes. Three days was enough for me - I did some yoga, some beach walks, lots of coffees & reading - as there isn’t much to explore, nor is it a lie all day on the beach type of place (maybe it would be in spring / summer - for now it was lovely for walks and a paddle. Felt totally safe as a solo woman.

This was the most beautiful boutique hotel Riad. My sincere thanks to the wonderful staff who make the hotel stay perfect. Farah at reception and Yusef, Saia and Bader and Fatiza and her wonderful cakes and breakfasts. You are the best team. Thank you for making my stay in Essouria so lovely.
We had an amazing stay at Riad Petite Rêverie, a beautiful riad with excellent service. We were with 2 people, even then the house is fantastic and not too big. Beautiful roof terrace and great location. Very well priced, it feels like a luxury hotel!
In our room there were two big comfortable twin beds, excellent wi-fi, everywhere was clean although the hotel was under reconstruction. Very good location in old city (medina), near beach, port, restaurants, caffes and shops, maybe the location.
