This area is beautiful.
This area is beautiful. It’s much warmer than Noumea and has a real peaceful feel to it. People are much more friendly and helpful. We went on a snorkeling trip out to the reef and some of the best coral I’ve seen. The food at the Sheraton is amazing. Our room and all the things to do at the resort is all you need. The swimming pool area was great.
The swimming pool area was great. The main restaurant was not good. The fish was way over cooked. The lamb chop meal was horrible, it was like the chops had been cooked twice and were dry and over cooked. lamb is usually served pink in the middle. Nice deck overlooking greenery with lots of small birds. We didn’t get to meet the host, but communication and instructions to find the bungalow were very helpful - it is not within Bourail, but still convenient location to explore La Roche Percée etc. We were particularly grateful for the gifts of custard apples and lemons. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, without exception. Speaking French is clearly an advantage. The hotel is very luxurious for New Caledonia, but you should expect a different standard than usual for a 5-star hotel. The room was impeccably clean and styled, surrounded by a lush garden that made you feel like you were alone in the forest. The pool was lovely and the bar was great.
