Ian was a friendly host, comfy bed, yum pizza and breakfast.
Interesting experience with checking in early (although we didn't notify the host we arrived at 12.30 ish after 4 hours of walking in the pouring rain completely soaked).
Reception is a bell in which you ring and the host will come down from the main house. However in our case we waited about 30 min in the driveway before we decided to escape the rain in the kitchen facilities. Thankfully unlocked.
Ian arrived about an hour later without our bags and we waited until about 4pm for our bags to arrived as Ian picked these up along with other guests from Punga cove resort. The bags were left outside our rooms for a water taxi however they were picked up by the host late in the day instead.
We were offered a gas bottle heated hot tub (water was a little dirty) but warm.
Overall an interesting stay.

Great stay for day 1 on the queen Charlotte track. Loved staying here. Not too much of a hike down - 5 min down and 10min up in the morning.
Everything needed was provided and even snacks in the room for purchase.
Hosts were lovely and so were the dogs!
Loved staying here and will be back in the summer with hopefully some sun! We will water taxi this time.
Facing the beachfront, Punga Cove Resort offers 4-star accommodation in Endeavour Inlet and has a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, garden and terrace.

I had a wonderful stay at Punga Cove. The accommodation was generous and comfortable, and the staff went above and beyond by organising a birthday cake for one of our group. There were also plenty of activities to keep us entertained throughout our stay.

We had wonderful views and a large balcony with delightful Tui birds inhabiting a nearby tree. Breakfast was inside or out on the same terrace they served lunch from. The walk up to the Lookout was well worth doing and we enjoyed kayaking too.

What a fabulous hideaway Ngahere Hou is!! If you're after a rustic glamping experience, then this is perfect.
We loved the garden setting, the views into Kenepuru Sound, the outdoor shower area (sadly didn't get to try the shower as we availed ourselves the wood-fired hot tub - sooo good!), and the separate kitchen / dining hut.
After a long day of hiking, we were really happy to sit in the sunny kitchen hut and just relax with a cup of tea. Super happy we had the whole area to ourselves (to be honest, I wouldn't want to share this area with other guests who may be staying in the yurt). Would definitely have liked to stay an extra night and enjoy this beautiful spot for a while longer.
Breakfast the next morning was fantastic, with gluten-free bread (!!!), croissants (not gf but the husband says they were very good), bacon, eggs, orange juice, and a ton of cereal options in the cupboard!
The only (slight) negative for me would be that I found the bed a bit too soft but the husband thought it was great and found it very comfy.
If you're hiking to Ngahere Hou from the Queen Charlotte Track: it's in a perfect position distance-wise between Punga Cove and Mistletoe Bay (what we did). It's about a half hour off the track, down the slope into Kenepuru Sound. The climb up the next morning was a killer, you do need to be reasonably fit but after that, the rest of the day/trek will feel almost easy!
