An historic wee town, that is quaint and quirky.

An historic wee town, that is quaint and quirky. We enjoyed the pub meal in the local hotel. The cafe across the road has great coffee and food. Sadly most of the shops were not open, and would only open on appointment. Im sure that if people stopped for an hour or so on the way through to Central Otago, they would find a hidden wee gem and a dollar spent in this community is worth more than a dollar spent in the tourist towns. Support local!

Three is a lot of history that dates back to the gold rush of 1861. There are many historic buildings in town. The Clutha Gold trail is very good to walk or cycle. Bellview Wetlands Reserve and many items left from the Gold rush.

A lovely quirky wee town with lots to do no matter what age you are. We had a pizza from the local hotel that we ate back at the motel while we sat outside on the deck. This is the second time we have stayed there and once again really enjoyed being able to wander around and check out the shops all in our own time.

At first sight, Lawrence looked like a 'sleepy village' but taking the trouble to look around the next morning, we were pleased and surprised to find a very interesting Museum with a very knowledgeable lady in attendance. There is a comprehensive 4 square shop and a Hotel which served a lovely meal the evening before. The town also boasts several other shops.

Lawrence is a lovely quaint town with such friendly people, lovely shops and a fantastic 'Mint' shop selling handmade chocolates and cakes - so delectable -yum! The mining history was interesting and good to walk around Gabriel's Gully, visit the Chinese camp and the historic places in town. Fantastic visit.
