We had a lovely ground floor room in this 100 year old home. Rodger (the owner) was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is self serve in the dining room with lovely views over the town and the bay. We were able to use the shared kitchen as well. The bed was super comfy and the shower had the best pressure I have ever experienced. Lovey spot for a few days.

A very under- rated town which a lot of New Zealanders are unaware of especially the Victorian Quarter which along with the old Harbour is the Gem in the Crown . A sustained effort in preserving and promoting its assets is important and is being recognised by more and more movie makers and producers for its cinematography value.

The children loved a ride on the train to see the seals on the beach. The Whitestone centre/Victorian centre entertained the children as well as enjoying the Steampunk centre. Lovely park near the beach and everywhere seemed dog friendly. the Whitestone cheese diner was lovely and food very good.

Oamaru's hub is the well-preserved old town centre with its imposing, historic buildings near the harbour's edge. The town appears to treasure its past. The South Hill area is also interesting and nearby Kakanui is sublime. We were there for a convention so didn't get the chance to explore as much as we would have liked, including the excellent Slighty Foxed Bookshop. Still, there's always next time.

The town is quiet, very pretty and welcoming. There is the brilliant Steampunk museum, two streets on quirky and interesting Victorian streets and of course is the best place to see the rare blue penguins. The food was great in the Criteron hotel too

The Old Confectionery was simply perfect to explore Oamaru. Beautifully decorated and styled it provided a great base to walk into the Victorian area and harbour.
By far the best place we have stayed in our NZ trip.
A very comfortable and quiet place to overnight in Oamaru, conveniently located for the gardens and historic precinct.
Quite quirky with the pool table and dartboard right there in the room.
You get value for money at this motel! Great for an overnight stay or a few nights to enjoy Oamaru - clean, cheap & cheerful describes what you get - recommended!
