Often overlooked as a passing point to more exotic...
Often overlooked as a passing point to more exotic destination, this little stop over town has a few worthy attractions; the Clay Cliffs, the Ahuriri River, the Hot tub and the Glider rides etc. It is also near Twizel and Lake Ohau too.Guest review byJeremyAustralia - Review score10.0

Great little settlement - the Clay Cliffs were spectacular and a definite must-see. The Hot Tubs were so lovely afterwards - very private and in a peaceful outdoor setting. Absolutely loved them. There are two places to eat in the village.
There are two places to eat in the village. A hotel which caters for tour parties. The bufet looked average. The ala carte menue, which looks interesting is not available every night (barman said). It was available when I was there, but the staff seamed very reluctant to offer it. The steak was limp (looked like it had been cooked in a sous vide, but not flash fried at a high enough temperature) and everything was way, way over salted!!! I was Would not recomend it. A pleasant, quiet place to get away from the 'madding crowd'...
A pleasant, quiet place to get away from the 'madding crowd'! I love the scenery and climate there and the locals we met were friendly and helpful. I recommend The Pink Glider for a meal as well as the kebab truck on the highway. Both have super staff and good food. Very accessible parking and the staff at Reception were lovely. We couldn't hear any road noise, and the curtains were black out. Enjoyed watching the TV in bed, and the shower was great. A plus that there was a fishing shop on-site too! Would definitely recommend paying an extra $10 for this room, we had no complaints.
