All in all it was great, a few small issues like the mattress protectors were stained and if I had seen this sooner I would have asked for new ones and the shower spilled out A LOT of water into the bathroom causing it to be quite dangerous. Facilities were fabulous and the kids loved the pool.

Beautiful property though some facilities were a little tired. Gardens were lovely to wander around. We had nine of us plus a two year old there for our staff dinner and the staff were very accommodating to our needs. The dinner was fine but a little disappointing though the service we were given was excellent. Lovely breakfast .

What a fabulous hotel. Beautiful decor. Rooms were stunning. Spotless and comfy. Everything was catered for - toiletries, free mini bar, welcome drink. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Just wish we’d been there for more than one night.
Grounds were stunning - amazing bamboo forest. Lovely hot tub and sauna outside.

Rotorua is living proof of the magnificent, and sometimes mind-boggling, might of nature. Smoking hot springs, bubbling mud pools and fast-spouting geysers give the surrounding landscape an almost other-worldly feel.
This New Zealand city sits in the Waimangu Volcanic Valley, the world’s newest geothermal hotspot. It was created after the 1886 eruption that covered Te Wairoa Buried Village, between 2 of many lakes gracing this fertile terrain. By Lake Rotorua’s shores is the luxurious Polynesian Spa with its thermal pools. Just behind in Government Gardens are the city’s best cultural offerings: the Arts Village, Tamaki Maori Village and Rotorua Museum, in an elegant former bath house.
Native animals roam in Rainbow Springs Kiwi Wildlife Park below Mount Ngongotaha, accessible via the Skyline cable car. The views while ascending make it obvious why this is called the Bay of Plenty. Tikitere Thermal Park on the opposite side of the lake is known as Hell’s Gate, but as long as you can ignore the sulphuric smell, the spas are simply heavenly.
More springs are in Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve, whose surrounding forest is popular for mountain biking, and Wai-O-Tapu where the Champagne Pool is a striking mix of green and orange.
Booking.com’s accommodation range is as diverse as the scenery, encompassing luxury hotels, cheap hostels and motels near Rotorua Airport.

There is so much to see in Rotorua.
There is so much to see in Rotorua. There are many beautiful places to take pictures that would leave you in awe of the beauty of the land and its environment. The geothermal area is stunning and is a once in a life time experience to be able get so close to nature at its purest raw form. Then not far away is the majestic Mt Tarawera. There are many places to go and walk around or hike or even bike to. Then you can come and enjoy a lot of wonderful different foods from the many choices of restaurants and cafes. There is something for everyone in this city.

Rotorua is quite unique in the world, with Maori tourism attractions and ongoing geothermal activity. There are too many other places of interest to list here, We were only there overnight to break a trip but in saying that we've visited numerous times in the past and enjoyed the 'tourism bit'. The last one was the sky walk in the redwood forest. In the city there's plenty of accommodation available and it's very easy to get around. Transport is needed to get to outlying tourist spots that are very much worth visiting, i.e. the buried village. Check if there are busses available. Foodwise there's plenty of excellent food in the cbd, Eat Street is a relatively new opportunity to visit a wide choice of cuisine in one city block. We've been there twice and it was humming both times.

I enjoyed the variety of cultural and physical activities.
I enjoyed the variety of cultural and physical activities. Last time I did a rainforest canopy tour, horse riding etc. This time I took in the cultural activities. Eat Streat also has a lot of food choices.
The only thing I didn't appreciate was the smell at the lake! But you get used to it.

Visited the gov park, Waiotapu, Redwood night walk, spa, lake, luge, amazeme, paradise springs... was a fun-filled 2 days. I highly recommend it, and if you have money, you can try all 'cos, as all places are expensive. & you may need about 3-4 days too. Definitely would return to this place.

This is the region with most of the geo thermally active places in NZ. It is quite important and interesting for the tourists to see the bubbling mud pools, geysers, the biologically active sludge from these natural geo thermal springs. It is a natural wonder.
Also Rotorua is famous for showcasing the Maori culture of NZ. Te Puia is a good place to experience all of these activities.
It is a doorway to Hobbiton, the studio set for the 'Hobbits' in the trilogy of the fantasy adventure based on Tolkien's novels.
Plenty of eating places and having a car made it easy.

We had a very pleasant stay here the staff were so welcoming when we arrived. Our room was nice and cosy beds were very comfortable the bathroom was Abit small and dated but everything was in working order. Good for families on a budget the pool and hot tubs were great the kids enjoyed their time at the copthrone. The hotel was very quiet aswell which was very pleasant.
Such a big house, lots of space for the family to spread out and have their own space….important after sharing rooms in hotels before this stop on our holiday. It was close to everything. The host made check in seamless. The little things like heaps of dishwashing liquid and laundry detergent helped out too! The kitschy decor was adorable and the kids loved it!
It was very spacious, clean and had all that we required - a lot more freedom compared to a motel or hotel.
Check in and out were easy.
Located opposite a reserve and only 5-10 minutes drive from central Rotorua. Hoping to book there again.
