It's a very pretty city, although somewhat spread out.
It's a very pretty city, although somewhat spread out. I would very strongly recommend buying the 72 hour travel pass. I like walking around, but still felt it was essential. Not least because it's likely that you may be staying some distance away from the centre, owing to the cost of central hotels and apartments.

It's a really interesting city, architectural, but for a traveller, it was surprisingly expensive. I haven't been to Manhattan recently, but beer proved a hefty $8.
I wouldn't buy anything you don't absolutely need here. Definitely, not diner, shopper-friendly.
Public transport was mediocre and confusing (not foreigner friendly).
Mostly I was in the neighborhood of the Hotel Drakon for the film festival, which means it's just one giant construction zone, so that wasn't too welcome.
Everyone I encountered spoke passable English.

Gothenburg, a way too expensive, except this hotel.
Gothenburg, a way too expensive, except this hotel. How, I have no Idea.
Airport is "keep away" expensive, Scandic Landvetter good but unreasonable expensive.
So, to survive in Gothenburg, use Hotel Örgryte. They have garage, windows on all rooms, reasonable prices and great staff.

Gothenburg is a great place to visit for a weekend if you want to only visit the City Center or a week if you want to explore the surrounding areas including a few of the hundred or so Islands all linked by ferries which can be accessed via the tram network. It's a small city so you can basically walk everywhere but has an excellent tram/bus/ferry network if you don't walk to walk. There is a vast array of shops, restaurants and bars to keep every one happy. There are also some interesting museums and a great fun park called Liseberg with some thrilling rides. You can jump on a Paddan boat from Kungsportsplatsen and travel through a number of the canals that circle the City Center, but watch your head as some of the bridges are very low! Go to Heaven 23 at the top of the Gothia Towers for their famous open prawn sandwich while taking in the amazing views over the whole city. From the UK it's only one & a half hours flight away from London Stansted.

The city seemed pleasant and calm. It was also relatively clean here, weather that is to be expected in a city by the sea. The atmosphere was created by the lights everywhere, it was perfect. The people here were really nice and willing to help with anything.

The trip was great, the people were friendly, and the surroundings were wonderful. I was a bit disappointed with the gopass, as some things were not available, but despite that, we’ll be back for the fifth time!

A lovely charming hotel. It may appear to be only 3 stars but it's 5 stars for service. The reception staff are first class and intuitively understand that you want to feel welcome and at home and that's what you get. The room (401) was generous in size and sunny. Very generous breakfast and cosy waiting area. Many thanks to the staff and management for making my staff so pleasant.
I had stayed in the Radissons earlier in the week, and I much preferred my stay here. For those visiting Sweden, this hotel is right in town, connected to Nordstan (big shopping centre) and opposite the central station and tram stops. Bed was comfortable, good amenities, very friendly staff, and loved the breakfast buffet selection.
I chose the location because I expected it was close to the Central Station, but with my big surprise the hotel is located up the station. So, it will be very confortable if you choose to go to Goteborg by train or bus.
The room is big and confortable, and the breakfast very good.
