Nafi was warm and accommodating, her home and garden are gorgeous and peaceful, and the room was clean, comfortable and quiet. The location was easy to find and Nafi even found and greeted us on our walk to make sure we didn't get lost, and it is only a few minutes to walk to any part of the island. The home is right on the water and is surrounded by her incredible garden, and her family is friendly and excellent hosts. I wish I could have stayed longer!

After a 3 week-trip in Senegal, we stayed at La Principauté for our last night there. We had an amazing experience. We had booked one of the rooms downstairs, but there were rooms available upstairs so the hotel offered us a room with a seafront view with no surcharge. We loved the vibe of this beautifully renovated hotel. We really enjoyed watching the sunrise over the sea on the hotel terrace on the top floor. It was very romantic. Breakfast was really good and filling. The hotel staff was incredibly nice and toughtful. They gave us plenty of recommendations on what to do/see on the island and where to eat and they made sure we were enjoying our stay with them. The hotel is centrally located, it was the perfect base to explore the island. We had a ferry at 5 pm the next day and they offered to keep our bags in the hotel lobby and they let us use their facilities for the whole day after checking out of our room in the morning so we were able to relax by the pool, read in the chairs in the breakfast area, and freshen up in the restrooms by the pool, before heading to the airport with a long long trip ahead of us to get back to the US. The rooms are a tad expensive for Senegal (I think this is the most expensive option on the island) but it was definitely worth it for us after a long backpacking/low budget style trip!

Located in Dakar, a 9-minute walk from Terrou Bi Beach, Hotel Le Djoloff provides accommodations with a shared lounge, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar.

Amazing place, exceeded my expectations. Super stlyish, well decorated, quiet and green oasis - I liked the african style and architecture. Great breakfast - he best I had in 2 weeks in Senegal. Jazz lounge downstairs is so cool! and it was full with visitors. Cool rooftop with breakfasts. Good location in the middle of everything - you can't walk, but it's easy to get around by car.

We initially didn't consider spending the night in Goree but were convinced by people in Dakar and so happy with our choice. It's great to see how the atmosphere on the island changes once all toruists are gone. We had a great meal by the seaside (excellent fresh seafood) and enjoyed the calm and tranquillity of the island. Wouldn't stay for longer than one night, but recommend the expereince to anyone coming to visit.

Goree Island is a trip most people make for just a day from Dakar. However 1 or 2 nights is even more special. The journey takes 20 minutes on the ferry and is an easy journey. Remember your passport to get on the ferry. The island is tiny, in 30 minutes you can walk all of it. It’s very picturesque. The main place to visit it tinged with terrible historical sadness. The House of Slaves (Maison des Esclaves) tells the history of millions of slaves who were kidnapped from West Africa for the Americas. There’s little else to see, but many artists, little shops and goats and cats everywhere. It’s a place to relax and switch off.

Small island with lots of history, old and well kept houses and a small community that probably completely depends on tourism. Wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle from Dakar. Food is local and mainly at the beach and closes early. Try other guesthouses such as adame on the other side of the island, which has sea view, airco and is treat for families and bigger groups.getting around by walking is easy and nice to explore the island. Either way. The only other vehicle is donkeys (mainly used for heavy loads and garbage). One night is perfect. Two nights is very relaxing. 3 is a bit much.
