Located in Chiang Mai, a few steps from Chiang Mai Gate, Phor Liang Meun Terracotta Arts has accommodations with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a restaurant.

The property is small and feels quaint and quiet. The staff were amazing and were able to provide directions, input and answer questions we had. The breakfast was ok as the offering was not as extensive as some other properties we've stayed but it was nice to have made-to-order eggs and coffee/tea on demand for an extended time. It was also nice that we could drop off laundry at the front desk in the morning and clothes were returned in the late afternoon, folded, in the room and the price was fair (roughly 8kg for $20US). We didn't use the pool but it did seem like a nice, quiet and relaxing atmosphere. The location of the hotel was right in the Old Town and easy walking distance to the Main Street and local temples. It was nice to just roam the streets and find places to eat, drink & shop.

Boasting an outdoor pool, Pingviman Hotel offers Thai-style rooms in Chiang Mai. Free WiFi is available throughout the property. All rooms are equipped with a 48-inch flat-screen cable TV.

Check in/check out was easy. It’s in a good location, close to many good restaurants, temples, massage places, and Sunday night market. My friend and I splurged for massages at Oasis down the street, and also got mani pedis for a reasonable price. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. It felt like an oasis, and our room felt like a portal to another world. The bathroom alone was so luxurious. I felt like a queen there.

In a prime location in Chiang Mai, POR Thapae Gate provides air-conditioned rooms, free bikes, free WiFi and an outdoor swimming pool.

Excellent location. You can walk to almost everything. ATM, massages, restaurants, pharmacies and local night markets—all on the Main Street and the Sunday market is right there, too. Staff is very patient, welcoming and attentive. Breakfast was fabulous, especially the Thai food. Love the complimentary water, fruits, coffees and ICE. So lovely to come back from a hot day out and grab an iced coffee and local sweet rice/snacks.

FAQs about hotels in Chiang Mai

The Rose of the North

Surrounded by Thailand’s highest mountains, Chiang Mai is the beloved, idyllic and somewhat mystical capital of the North. With more than 300 temples, it's considered one of the most important cultural centers in the country.

Despite being Thailand's fifth-largest city, Chiang Mai still has a relaxed and laid-back feel. Modernity, trendy shops and boutique hotels haven’t altered much of its picturesque and peaceful atmosphere.

This reputation is partly due to its proximity to lush green areas, mountains like Doi Suthep, and its panoramic Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep temple. The Doi Inthanon National Park is 37 miles away with Thailand’s highest mountain.

Hotels in Chiang Mai’s old city center are a popular choice, with picturesque scenery featuring its moat and older temples. Chiang Mai hotels can also be found around the Chang Klhan Rd, where the famous Night Bazaar takes place.

The city’s nightlife runs along the Loi Kroh Rd, while Ratchadamneon Road hosts the main Sunday night pedestrian market. Don’t forget to buy an umbrella from Bo Sang and eat a bowl of kao soi.

Whether you arrive at Chiang Mai International Airport or come by land from Bangkok, don’t miss "The Rose of the North" deals on Booking.com!

A super laid back town, just what I needed to relax and unwind, helped by some excellent local massages. Particular highlights for me were:- Kalm Village with its mix of exhibition, retail, coffee shop and library. A great place to spend time, especially in the heat of the day. Inner Coffee Shop is perfect for refreshment and great food with lovely friendly staff. Early Bird 626 does a delicious and cheap breakfast. Chiang Mai Gate Market during the day Walking Street Market at Night.

    Chiang Mai was beautiful.

Chiang Mai was beautiful. The people there are very friendly and there are plenty of options for tourists to stay in the safe zone when it comes to food and health. Please dress nicely and be respectful. It was shameful to see tourists there trying to live out the "bohemian" lifestyle and looking trashy while the nationals were kind and full of self respect.

Coming from Bangkok, Chiang Mai is very quiet and laid back.

Coming from Bangkok, Chiang Mai is very quiet and laid back. Traffic is very easy and quiet. Sightseeing is easy as most of the big temples are located in the old town and are easily walkable. Air quality during field burning season is terrible. At times, you can barely see the mountain. There are a multitude of good places to eat. There are elephant rescues that are reasonably priced to visit.

Chiang Mai is a laid back, touristy city in Thailand.

Chiang Mai is a laid back, touristy city in Thailand. Food and rent are affordable and the locals are quite friendly and hospitable. The street food and local food markets are recommended. I am not a fan of temples though, but they have beautiful temples that adorn the city. Beautiful and Bohemian styled linen and cotton clothes adorn the street clothing stalls. This is a perfect holiday destination.

The room is really spacious and very authentic in style. The location is great! The hotel is in walking g distance to a really good food market, 5 min walk from a 7/11, and is on a road with lots of shops, street food & massage places. It's about a 25 min walk from the old city gate too. The shower was really powerful, however, sometimes the toilet had a sewage smell. The staff were friendly and helpful too.

Great location, easy to get a tuk tuk or taxi into the old city or to the night market. Although set back just off the main road the hotel is ver6 quiet. Rooms spacious and clean. Love having the lounge area off the bedroom as a separate room. Good sized pool. Staff friendly and helpful. This was our 3rd stay and it has never disappointed.

Breakfast was AMAZING. One of the best hotel breakfast I think I've had in a hotel that's not buffet style but a lacarte. The staff was lovely and the views to the old town pagoda infront of the pool was beautiful and gave my family the chiang mai experience they needed!
