United StatesWe stayed at the Apple Tree Inn as a quick stop to resupply my partner who’s hiking the PCT, and it turned out to be a wonderful surprise. This is a budget hotel, but don’t let that fool you—the room was exceptionally clean, freshly renovated, and very comfortable. The staff was genuinely kind and helpful, which made our short stay even more pleasant.
Right next door, we discovered an unexpectedly high-quality restaurant and had an amazing meal—definitely a highlight of our stop.

We loved staying at the Gold Rush Hotel. We actually got free breakfast every morning at this hotel. The other restaurants are really good too. Weather was cold, but we made the best of it. Julian is Julian, always has been a tourist trap and forever will be , as far as food in town it was high-priced and mediocre at best for what you get, And the Pies, well ok but not so good that a 8-inch pie should cost 20 bucks, and slices almost 8 bucks for a small wedge of a pie , any of the Julian Pie shops have the same Pies, and same prices , they are making 64 bucks out of one 8 inch pie so you know about how big the slices are , if you want good food that is not pricey , go to San Diego to Old Town , food is great there , food is good and reasonably pricedGuest review byJungleBearUnited States - Review score10.0

Julian is a easy drive from San Diego.
Julian is a easy drive from San Diego. It is a nice, clean little mountain town. It has many shops with unique goods that you don't see many places. The one serious drawback is that there is only one go to sit-down restaurant. It is Italian. One major drawback is they do not accept reservations. However they do have a system using a Qcode in which you can be notified when your table will be ready in a specified time frame. Our wait was only about 1/2 hr notice of when our table for 6 was ready. Just don't sit by the front door. The cold wind is not pleasant each time the door opened. Julian is a super cute town.
Julian is a super cute town. There's a lot to do there in town. There are some great options that are no more than 3 miles away from the actual town of Julian and these establishments have co-opted the Julian town name for their locations. In the fall (September) they have an Apple Days Festival which is probably the highlight for the town. It's very crowded and lots of family friendly activities going on. Julian is a sweet little town packed with history. We had spent the day in Borego Springs looking at the desert sculptures (worth the trip) and enjoyed the mountain pass drive into Julian. Do the mine tour--the guide was wonderful and the tour interesting. Wonderful dining, especially the Italian place near the Robinson Hotel--another good find.Guest review byCindyUnited States

The room was small but they are historical so this is expected. It was a clean room, but the wifi was weak so don't expect to stream. This is expected in the country area.
