Like visiting a cottage from the 60s, it's an old facility but it's well maintained. Has what you need for a short visit.

Trish at front desk was great. All staff was really nice. Check in and out was a breeze. Nice pool area, tennis/pickleball court (but no lights so play til dark). Close to food. Had view of ocean but also warehouse and commercial area so not the prettiest but close enough to all the best beaches. 15 to 30 minutes from most everything. Pillows could be better and it would be nice to have a few additional kitchen items like tinfoil and/or storage containers. The 1/2 bathroom was extremely loud! And while the deck area had a couple chairs and table they were just a bit wobbly. But all in all a nice stay with plenty of room for four adults. We would consider staying again.

The view became more exceptional as we noticed more things happening in the bay: outrigger canoe and regular canoe races, sailboat races, surfers, foil (motorized surfboard) surfers, beach volleyball games, and large cruise ships (two during the week we were there). This location is in the flight path of the helicopter excursions to Kauai’s highlights so expect noise in the morning. No worries about being awakened by them. The roosters which are everywhere on the island will awaken you much earlier than when the helicopters begin flying. The unit has been partially upgraded within the past few years so that the kitchen seemed more modern than the rest of the unit although there was NO dishwasher. There were lots of spices and condiments (including olive and sesame oil, soy sauce, and honey), rice, and oatmeal. The shower stall was nicely tiled and the “wood” floor relatively new. The windows/doors looking out onto the patio were relatively new (mini blinds inside double pane glass).
Located in Kapaa, Kauai Shores Hotel is an oceanfront hotel that features a private beach, a beachfront restaurant, and a 6-acre tropical courtyard complete with 2 outdoor pools.

I live here and just needed to be near the hospital for a procedure, so the location was perfect.
I was unable to eat (except for coffee) or go swimming so did not do any of those things but there are beautiful beaches nearby.
There are so many things I could point out for travelers, but it would take pages!
For me, Lihue is a place to mostly do anything legal, doctors and shopping.

Stayed at Royal Sonesta which was a great base for airport, Wailua river and Waimea canyon. As well as facilities at hotel also had a good choice of restaurants and shops five minutes walk away which is not always the case with hotel resorts. A great choice for a holiday base.

Honestly guys honolulu has much more diversity in everything even nature, dont get fooled by the commercials as we did. For someone who had visited honolulu 2 times and looking for a new hawaiian island to explore, l was totally disappointed. Nothing as spactacular as honolulu scenic locations. I am not saying it is bad , but from what u expect to see via the suggestion from other people or websites, i would say they either have not visited honolulu or are supporting the locals of kauai , besides food quality is not even close compare to honolulu and ubcould easily get board or wondered about ur plan

Lihue is a good location.
Lihue is a good location. It is a central location that you can go discover the island from. There are also a lot of places to eat and shop.
It is an island so everything is a little more expensive so plan ahead.
If you love coffee you have to try HaCoffee it was my favorite place. Daddy-O's is right around the corner from there and has great breakfast. We even caught a tailgate BBQ across the street for lunch in a parking lot that was amazing.

Be prepared for higher prices than you may be used to.
Be prepared for higher prices than you may be used to. For example, a pineapple at a road-side stand was $12. I purchased one back home a week after returning from Kauai for $2.18. Fortunately, there is a Costco located in Lihue not far from this unit. Having a kitchen in your lodging during your stay in Hawaii is key to saving money. You can still have poke every day if you want, but by buying it at a store rather than a restaurant you'll save big time. Also, having a car is imperative because the key sights are so spread out. Lihue has breweries, distilleries, fish markets, and grocery stores (Costco, Times, Safeway, Target). All sights on the island are less than a day's drive from Lihue.

The location is a few minutes from the airport, Walmart and the beach. Everything was clean and the staff was great. Coffee made in the lobby from 8 to 11 am. The kitchen had a small fridge with a freezer comp, hot plate with some pans and everything needed to make and eat small meals. Hot water, comfy bed, towels and soap. AC worked great. Recommend the stay if you need to be by the airport or on this end of the island.

When we first walked into the hotel the front lobby was so beautiful and inviting. We then went to check in and were greeted with big smiles by the famous Saddie!!! What a beautiful soul! She explained to us the grounds and restaraunt and any question we had for her! Our room was more than perfect over looking the pool and ocean view! The chairs by the pool so very comfortable! I would stay here again. We had a car rental so you can drive into Lihui a short 5 min drive for all you need. The location is on mark. Close to airport!
The hotel property is very well maintained. The pools and common areas are clean and well manicured. It is close to Lihue and the airport and right on the beach. As a resort, this ticks all the boxes.
