We booked 2 rooms for my family, one room impressed me, it was clean and comfortable, but unfortunately the second room was not cleaned and we were left with unmade beds and garbage. The staff is friendly.

The staff was fantastic. Nikki set up a quiet, 1st floor room for us. She arranged that we would have breakfast sandwiches and beverages for us since we were leaving before breakfast was normally served. The night lady was very helpful and cheery. The gentleman that answered the phone when confirming our reservation has helpful and friendly.

Love it here. This is our second visit. The hotel is perfectly located with free parking and the staff are just fabulous. Our room was a bit warm and they sorted it straight away. Very homely hotel with lots of character. We came end of March beginning of April this time and weather went from snowing to warm sunshine. Every day was different and we never knew what we would wake up to.
Situated in the Black Hills National Forest, this hotel is 1.6 km from shopping and entertainment in the city centre. Boasting an on-site casino, each room features a TV with cable channels.

It was very close to historic main street and had private parking. Plus a king size bed.

Nice quite town after the rally, but a lot to do in the surrounding areas. Close to Deadwood and Spearfish Canyon. Plenty to do in the Black Hills. If you are on a motorcycle, you will not find a better place to ride. Roads are perfect and the Counties keep them well maintained. Custer State Park and Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse are well worth checking into! Fantastic weather most of the time.

This town isn't much during the off season.
This town isn't much during the off season. Good to see once. Had a beer at the Full Throttle Saloon(what a junk pile). The motorcycle museum in town is worth seeing. Otherwise, a one time visit, unless you are going during the rally.

It's clear that the city of Sturgis starts to come alive in anticipation of the world-renowned Sturgis motorcycle rally in August. The majority of the bars are biker bars with large outdoor patios and live music. They have a cute town square with shops and live music too. Because of all the outdoor seating, many bars are dog-friendly. Considering this is a small town, there aren't many restaurant options, which is to be expected.
I went 4th of July weekend, and it was starting to get busier. There isn't much to do in Sturgis, but it did serve as a good "home base" for seeing a lot of the major attractions in the Black Hills area. On one hand, it's only 20 minutes from Deadwood, the historical western town, but it's about 90 minutes from other attractions like Crazy Horse and Mt. Rushmore.
Should I explore this area again, I would probably stay in Rapid City. It's closer to the main attractions and is a larger town with more amenities, events, restaurants, etc. It was evident that most people coming to Sturgis were passing through or staying for a couple of days. I stayed for one week, but 3-4 days would have sufficed. I would still recommend staying in Rapid City though.

I am from Sturgis, I love this city.
I am from Sturgis, I love this city. South Dakota residents who work in the hospitality industry are the greatest. I know, I've been all over the nation. People here like to please visitors and as a result there is alot of repeat customers. I am retired, I travel the nation, coast to coast and this city, this state, rocks the house.

Sturgis is a town struggling with its identity outside of a annual rally location. Everything in town is for sale and way overpriced. Food was mediocre and tourists were looking for all of the iconic "Sturgis" bars and hot spots to be opened to visit, however, they only open during the week of the Sturgis rally. Big money makers have more or less ruined this town's economy.

I deliberately waited until after rally, only to discover that there isn't much to Sturgis. Only 25 miles to Rapid City, I will just add Natl Cemetery to my trip to Rapid, or find another place for my time in northern hills. There were limited options for food delivery.

This is a beautiful boutique hotel in the middle of town, directly across the street from a wonderful bar/restaurant. The rooms are great (I love the 2 levels, loft) and huge windows. Every thing about this place is fabulous!
I got "stuck" here due to a snowstorm and had to spend 3 nights instead of 1 and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.
Breakfast was great! The hotel was in the perfect location, and the rooms were very clean and comfortable. We will definitely stay here again. The staff was kind and helpful throughout our stay.
