South AfricaWe were greeted with a warm welcome at a well-kept guesthouse. The rooms are very spacious with high end finishes. The room had all the amenities that you could need and was very clean. The breakfast was superb. I would highly recommend this guesthouse. Keep up the good work.

De Aar is not really a tourist destination.
De Aar is not really a tourist destination. It is not on any of the main roads going to vacation destinations. One would go there for business. There is only one pub restaurant that is open in the evenings, except on Sundays. On a Sunday afternoon, the only place to get a meal is a chicken take-away place. De Aar is a convenient place to stop over on a long journey. The drive to De Aar from Namibia is beautiful as is the drive from De Aar to Cradock. De Aar itself is not beautiful. We used it as a transit point, and it suited our purposes. We ate at a restaurant recommended by our host. It is easy to get around. De Aar is a nice small get away town with diverse small community that speaks mostly both afrikaans and xhosa. Its very hot & dry because its in the Karroo, but it rained and stormed hard when we were there but we enjoyed it because it cooled off.Guest review byLukhanyoSouth Africa

And I loved the rusks, they were delicious. And the small religious books placed on the bedside, I loved that idea too, even though I was too tired to read them since I had to rest for my trip to Joburg the next morning.
