we had stayed there before and it was wonderful, however we did not realise that the units are now individually owned and they no longer belong all together, also the restaurant is not part of the chalet, it is also privately owned. The restaurant was very, very nice but the accommodation needs some serious upgrading

Dullstroom is a charming small town nestled in the highlands...
Dullstroom is a charming small town nestled in the highlands of Mpumalanga, South Africa, known for its serene beauty, cool climate, and picturesque landscapes. It’s a popular getaway for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. Surrounded by lush forests, rolling hills, and tranquil lakes, Dullstroom offers a peaceful retreat with a unique charm.
The town is often referred to as the "Trout Fishing Capital of South Africa," and the sparkling, clear waters of its numerous dams attract anglers from all over. Its idyllic setting is perfect for outdoor activities, including hiking, birdwatching, and horseback riding. The area’s abundance of indigenous forests and wetlands makes it a paradise for nature lovers.
In the town itself, cobbled streets and cozy cottages add to the inviting atmosphere, with quaint shops selling local crafts, antiques, and homemade goods. The local restaurants and cafes offer a taste of hearty, traditional South African cuisine, paired with fine wines from the surrounding region. Many visitors come to Dullstroom to enjoy the cool, crisp mountain air, often cozying up by a crackling fire at one of the many charming lodges.
The town's slower pace of life, combined with its natural beauty and rich history, makes Dullstroom a hidden gem for those seeking a peaceful retreat or an adventurous escape into the heart of the South African wilderness.

Much in the town is closed mid week so if you want the full experience weekends are best. Quiet, relaxed and unhurried is great Monday to Wednesday. The old favorites are still standing for a reason- Waffle and Co, Harries Pancakes and Millies (though no ready to eat trout pies available). Mrs Simpsons was our highlight. Excellent food, lovely atmosphere and host Al is a gem. Newer modern spaces were too clinical and overpriced. World of Whiskey is a must do.

The Stonecutters Lodge was like a fairytale stay:...
The Stonecutters Lodge was like a fairytale stay: beautifully nestled in nature with a tree-lined driveway, backdrop forest, sculptured gardens and cosy county living. The chalet was like a little home, cosy, beautiful outside undercover balcony, very very comfortable bed, and spacious. It was very clean with a kitchenette that provided all the essentials of home. We had such a good stay. The hostess was so kind and friendly and helped with every need. It is so centrally located. We have to go back to enjoy this experience again - and the fly fishing at one of its lakes!! Thank you Stonecutters for a great holiday experience!

Breakfast at The Baker Boys was excellent and the setting was great.
Seattle coffee shop never disappoints and the fudge was great as was the pasta rice bowl (vegetarian).
We loved the Saturday market with the Pootjie Kos competition.
We went to Walkersons for their wonderful cream scones.
The gift shops in Dullstroom were great as well. We were disappointed to find the Anvil Arms closed on the Sunday as it is a favourite of ours - the sausage platter is a must.

The property is on a quiet street, within walking distance of Dullstroom's main street, making it easy to park your vehicle and walk to the shops Dullstroom has to offer.
The unit has a fireplace and is very private. Only two units are on the property, and it is very secure.
Our unit was spotless, neat, and very nice. It had a huge shower and an amazingly comfortable double king bed—I slept like a log!
Beautiful location . But access to the hotel tricky. Special in dark..Our room beautiful. But miss warm floor in the room. Why did they not add the heat floor. It's a new building and Dullstroom is cold at night most of the year. Staff very friendly. Breakfast good. and a lovely lounge area with a fireplace was a plus
We had an amazing stay in Dullstroom! The location is perfect, offering convenient access to the town center while still maintaining a peaceful atmosphere. The cleanliness exceeded our expectations—it was truly exceptional. Highly recommended for anyone looking for comfort and convenience in Dullstroom!
Self Catering. Lovely fireplace in room. Very private. Andrew and Patsy were lovely hosts. Lovely paths to walk and cycle. Very safe. Whisky the dog was awesome. Walkersons Hotel and Spa on the estate served a very nice dinner.
