Mainly went to visit the biggest manmade hole in the world.
Mainly went to visit the biggest manmade hole in the world. Very interesting though we needed to correct a couple of historical facts about the first diamond found. We must make a stop in Kimberley because it is 400k from Upington. that is the distance we travel a day. on the way back however we hit the jackpot with the Mondior Lodge. and that is the place I would recomend to any person who wants to stay in Kimberley.Guest review byJoSouth Africa - Review score

Its a historic town whose glory has now faded.
Its a historic town whose glory has now faded. The Big Hole was definitely worth a visit, but most of the other historic houses and museums that we wanted to visit are closed during the weekend. (so, doesn't make sense for an out of town visitor at all)Guest review byKarishmaSouth Africa

We choose Kimberley for the Big Hole and Diamonds exploration. all 3 children when I put the option of a hotel stay jumped to say we must stay at Protea hotel. Wow you made the stay so so special. The staff went over and above - were so so friendly. thank you for the excellent and the memories we could make as a father and daughters roadtrip. Mr Prinsloo who slept there said that he was firstly to a room where the bedlinen was dirty and he needed to ask for a clean place, then they gave him a nice self catering flat to sleep in.
