We didn't get hot water in the shower for 2days during our stay despite informing the concierge to remedy same. Otherwise everything was perfect.

Lovely relaxing environment with very spacious and well appointed rooms. The laundry service was super efficient and the front desk super helpful. We took some bikes out and that was a fun way to get to Thesen Island.

We love Knysna as it is a lovely little town in the heart of The Garden Route. It is a great base for exploring the numerous Natural beauty that surrounds it. The town has a lovely arty vibe with all the shops and restaurants you could want.

It's a beautiful, scenic small town. A great place place with family friendly things to do. Restaurants are plenty and always have specials. Brenton on Sea has beautiful beaches that the kids would love. Monkeyland, elephant park and wolf park are some places to go with kids.

We were in Knysna in February, at the tail end of the season I believe, and found it to be not too busy but still lively.
We originally booked for 4 nights but extended to 9 nights - says it all 😊
It is a lovely little town with nice restaurants and shops and a great base for exploring the area.
As we were exploring the Garden Route we decided to base ourselves here and travel out each day which really worked for us. It was lovely to come back to our 'home from home' each evening and have a vino on the balcony overlooking the beautiful tranquil canal before heading next door to a restaurant. Apartments in the Spinnaker Drive, Knysna Quays area are an excellent base, as it is very secure, has all the shops, restaurants, etc on the doorstep but is very quite overlooking the beautiful canal.
We ate in Drydock, 34 Degrees South, (check out their shop also), both of which were good, also Freshline Seafood is very good and the Art Cafe on Queen is well worth checking out for all day breakfast and lunch and - Art!!
Thesen Island is within walking distance and also worth a visit, a little more upmarket with lovely shops and restaurants. We ate in Sirocco which was lovely.
A visit to the East Head is a MUST and also a MUST to explore Coney Glen Beach at the head. East Head cafe has a great rep but was closed the day we were there. We had a lovely lunch at Piza E Vino.
Brenton-on-sea is a stunning beach about a 15 min drive away.
We found Knysn to be a great base for exploring the Garden Route east and west from there.

Lovely scenic area.
Lovely scenic area.
We used to enjoy eating at The Bell in Belvedere but on this occasion it did not live up to our good memories. Perhaps that is why there were plenty of tables available when it used to be difficult to get a seat.
Isle de Pain on Thesen Island provides excellent light meals with a difference, Well worth a visit.
Birds of Eden is good to visit but do not eat in the cafe there at the end of the visit. The service is very slow and the food is poor.
Although we did not visit on this trip The Elephant Park is a great experience but you do need to be reasonably fit as it involves some walking on rough ground.

We only had an overnight stay in Knysna, but the beauty of this town is breathtaking. We also had a great dining experience at Drydocks located in the waterfront, where there is a choice of restaurants and some really cool shops and galleries.
This was a self-drive business visit and the traffic was OK. Could be problematic during peak holiday season as there is only one road in/out of town.
Would have loved to take a ferry trip on the Featherbed or John Benn to get closer to the Heads. Lots of outdoor activities and animal encounters available.

The Amanzi Boutique Hotel is superbly located on leisure island looking across the lagoon toward Knysna Heads. Our room had an amazing balcony where we could relax, sunbathe and enjoy that view. The staff (and there seemed to be quite a few of them) all went out of their way to ensure that every request we made was attended to and we wanted for nothing. Advice on restaurants etc was very good; the restaurant shuttle ride (200 Rand, return) was very comfortable and prompt.
This was a splendidly spacious apartment on two floors with glorious views of the lagoon and Knysna Heads. The gas hob and oven worked well and were proof against load-shedding. The bed and the lounge seating were very comfortable. The swimming pool was close by and very refreshing. I would recommend this property for an extended stay. The bathroom and the shower room both worked well. The staff were great!
Neat and clean. Beds are comfortable. Room has a kettle and fridge and has TV with Open View channels. Outside is a pool for the hot days. Parking is off street and safe. Host very friendly and they also serve breakfast. Safe area and close to a Spar for those that need something. Waterfront and Knysna heads within 5 min of the establishment. Very pleasant stay
The hotel is located at the shore of the Knysna Lagoon, 3 km from the city center, so It's tranquil and calm. I had a beautiful lagoon view at sunset time from my room. Additionally, all the staff are friendly and helpful. It's the perfect hotel for a relaxing vacation.
