Just perfect. The perfect place to unwind and relax! Dinner was world class. The room was cute. The boutique store was awesome! And they let my dog Odie have the run of the place!!

Fantastic stop-over spot. Gorgeous and welcoming atmosphere. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Pet-friendly and clean. Highly recommend.
Heads-up for fellow dog owners: if your pups are sensitive to outdoor sounds, you might hear neighbors chatting on their patios - totally unobtrusive to us, but the dogs will notice it.

Karoo Manor is our favourite part of the Durban to Cape Town trip. The hosts make you feel like you stayed with family for the night. The historical vine and wooden floors, the Karoo hospitality in the restaurant, the quaint bar. It all makes for a fun way to break to the long drive. We love coming back to this gorgeous little plek. Highly recommended.

I have stayed there several times now, usually booking the entire house. It’s a stunning venue and Rika, who manages the guest arrangements, is extremely helpful. This last occasion I had a travel complication so arrived just after midnight (instead of the 4pm as planned) and she was still able to let me in! Remarkable support.

The Richmond area is very well located if you are overnighting on your way to Cape Town as it's an easy day's drive. South Merino Gastehuis is a farm about 15 km on the Beaufort West side of Richmond and not in the town of Richmond itself. This is a plus because guesthouses in the village of Richmond itself struggle with car break-ins. Guests who stay in Richmond town (which is very pretty) are advised to choose accommodation that offers secure parking. South Merino however is very safe and secure.
By the way, Richmond is much nicer than Hanover, which has become very run down, dirty and unsafe. I defintely do NOT recommend staying in Hanover (northern cape) overnight.

We were welcomed with friendliness and professionalism.
We were welcomed with friendliness and professionalism. We were pleasantly surprised by the comfort of the room. The little touches ( rusks, chocolates, sherry, good ground coffee, DSTV) were special. As a one night stop over to/from Cape Town/Johannesburg this was an ideal location. The beds were very comfortable and the linen/towels was of a very high standard. Just remember to pack your own food - the kitchen is well equipped to warm meals.
Disliked · There is NOTHING to do in the town. We walked to the one 'eatery', Ka-Ma, without any success of seeing a form of life. Just pack your own.

Richmond is a convenient stopover en route to/from the Cape from/to Gauteng. The town has plenty of interesting houses, restaurants and galleries. One could easily stay a few days as there's plenty of interest in the area, and for those with an interest in art and books, it's a great destination. I was pleasantly surprised at how neat and clean the town was - very little litter.

The town need a bit of TLC, but with lots of potential.
The town need a bit of TLC, but with lots of potential. Modern Art Projects was a nice surprise with a wonderful staff member that showed us around. Vetmuis Plaaskombuis is a must visit. They also sell beautiful products and produce, staff very friendly. I am sure there is much more to the town if you spend more time there.

It is a beautiful, decorated space.
It is a beautiful, decorated space. Its more than enough space/room for 4 people.
Its unfortunately located close to a very noisy area in the town - especially at night. Besides the noise factor - I would recommend this space. Definitely the most beautiful & comfortable accommodation in Richmond.
