The Oasis is centrally located, which made check-in easy and seamless. They requested a copy of my driver's license and verified the booking on Booking.com, and that was it. The breakfast provided was good, served buffet-style, and included options for eggs prepared by the Chef. The check-out process was also easy. We packed the car between the hotel and its neighbouring hotel, and it was safe.

    Beautiful scenery of vineyards and farms in the middle of the dessert. A few nice restaurants along the river to have some sundowners at. You can wine taste at Orange River Cellars, or drive around and admire the vineyards in the area.

    Marikal (annex) provided very nice overnight accommodation. We did take a walk late afternoon. There was a safety incident just outside of Kalahari mall. Be vigilant not to display jewelry on yourself or a cellphone.

    Upington on Sundays we were informed previously that...

    Upington on Sundays we were informed previously that everywhere was closed and therefore no food available if you were not self catering. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived there to find a vere busy small commercial area consisting of restaurants, take aways and a supermarket catering for everything and open until 20.00h even on Sunday.There is lots of parking, lots of accommodation, town was quiet otherwise, and there is the mighty orange river running through which is of interest to visitors. If you plan to stay longer there are some cultural interests in the town and any shopping needs can be found therein on weekdays. It is a very hot town in the Kalahari desert region but with unusual vegetation. There is the Orange river wine producing farms where you can taste and buy if you are so inclined!

    Something called Ox Steakhouse, had tea 3pm and went back for dinner. Excellent. We struggled to get to a lookout place over the river. We will definitely get a map of the places worthwhile to visit.

    The people in Upington is very friendly and the place is very tidy. The places where we ate was great and service was great. Every place that we visit was easily accessible. We will definitely recommend Upington to our friends and we will visit it again in future.

    The guesthouse was comfortable, spacious and felt like a home away from home. Set in a beautiful and quiet nature setting and surrounded by trees this guest house is literally on the river and a lovely patio on the water. The rooms were spacious, luxurious and attention to detail. Our host was super helpful and friendly and packed a breakfast when we had to leave early the next morning. I would recommend anyone to stay here and will not even consider staying anywhere else myself if I visit Upington again.

    Wow, this place really blew us away. If you happen to be travelling close to Upington then stay a night or more here. In the banks of the orange river with wildlife and buck right on your doorstep. We made a very last minute booking and despite this the hosts did everything that they could to make our stay special.

    Perfect host, very friendly and helpful with transport issues, good restaurant suggestions, breakfast was fine and we had a free upgrade. Excellent location coming from Augrabies and flying back from Upington to capetown. Nicely situated at Orange River in Colonial style.
