A very fun place, you can tell just how much energy went into the design and overall experience. Excellent hospitality. A young man at the front desk was very helpful in directing us toward art in the city. The room also came with a flotation device for swimming in the river and tickets for discounted public transport.

Steinenschanze Charming City & Garden Hotel is less than 5 minutes' walk from Basel's city center and the university, close to historical buildings and the old town. The staff are friendly, helpful and professional. The buffet breakfast starts from 6 AM through 10:30 AM which is very well prepared with delicious baked croissants and breads, fresh preserves and butter, hot porridge and various roasted vegetables, mushrooms, cold cuts, various cheeses, yogurts, fresh and dry fruits and nuts...of course various coffee and teas. The location is very convenient which is one tram stop from the train station and walking distance to the City Center. We had the Small Charming Room which it's true to its name. We had wonderful time and extended our staying because we had such a nice time!

ART HOUSE Basel - Member of Design Hotels has a shared lounge, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Basel. This 4-star hotel offers a concierge service and a tour desk. It was a great location. Walked from train station and went for the Christmas market,which was very close. Hotel for comfortable and quiet and breakfast was fabulous. The biggest croissants I have ever seen. Great selection of food and cooked to order omelettes. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Newly built in 2014, The Passage in Basel is a centrally located design hotel featuring a sauna, a fitness center, free WiFi access and air-conditioned rooms. I loved that the manager Nikolas went above and beyond to help us with a severe travel challenge we had from our previous tour. His kindness, care and attention were well above and beyond. Exceptional. He then took time helping us find a fondue restaurant.

Occupying a medieval building next to the historic Spalen Gate, this 3-star hotel is just a 5-minute walk from Basel’s Old Town. Wi-Fi is free of charge. It was clean and large room for three people family. Breakfast was great. Location was near the city center. There was a near tram station and bus station to the airport and city center and train station.

What a lucky find this place was... perfect for a solo or couple travelling. Location is right in the city center: close to many restaurants, shopping, bars and groceries. Tourist sights within walking distance. Apartment is on the 6th floor, elevator access. Little touches (spices, extra towels, comfy bed pillows) made our stay feel more like home! Washer & dryer...a blessing. Fully equipped kitchen to cook (could use cutting board, pizza cutter and better knives). Balcony to enjoy in evenings when not raining.

Set very close to banks of the River Rhine, this designer hostel is next to the old city gate of St. Alban. Good location, very nice hostel, recommendation.
