Steinenschanze Charming City & Garden Hotel is less than 5 minutes' walk from Basel's city centre and the university, close to historical buildings and the old town. Great hotel with very professional and friendly staff. Excellent location, only 5-10 minute walk from most main attractions. We were visiting around Christmas and the hotel's garden was part of the "Magical Courtyards" and beautifully decorated. There was also free filtered drinking water on every floor and free coffee at all times.

Its location is good, there’s a paid parking in front of the hotel, and in 5 minutes there’s a bus/tram stop which was complementary. Not sure it was given by the hotel or by the government though. The room was spacious, light, well decorated and clean. The soap, shampoo and cream were from Loccitane. We were given the patio rooms which was very quiet.

It's great hotel near train station and the city center. Very convenient to get around. Rooms are nicely decorated and modern. Spa center is nice but the pool could be a bit warmer. Since it was very cold outside a bit warmer water would be nice to relax after sightseeing. Breakfast was very nice as well. Nothing spectacular, but decent variety and well prepared.
