United StatesWindswept on the Trent is off the beaten path but well worth the effort. We were traveling through the area from Illinois so my daughter could try some horses and I found this property searching for highly rated places to stay. The property is beautiful. There were lots of water activities (swimming, kayaks, hot tub, etc.) although we didn't have the time for those on this trip. Next time we'll stay for 2 nights or more so we will have time to really enjoy the property. We stayed in the coach house which was perfect for my daughter and I. I was skeptical at first about the pull out sofa for her but it turned out to be as comfy as a bed. Elaine could not have been a kinder hostess. She was hosting some friends while we were there and they invited us to eat dinner with them and the other kids who were there included my daughter when they watched a movie after dinner. I could not have been happier with the accommodations and would definitely return if I am ever back in the area.

There is a full kitchen, and the host leaves food for guests to make a delicious breakfast (eggs, milk, bread, pancake mix, cereal, etc). The property is on the banks of the historic Trent River, and the Trans-Canada hiking trail is just a short walk away.
