The place was great and new, directly on the beach. The rooms have few beds inside and are spacious. The staff was very kind and careful, especially Nei that helped me with any requests. She was supernice. Good vibes and nice view

Puerto Alto is a recently renovated guest house in Santa Marta where guests can take a dip in its pool with a view and make the most of its free Wifi, open-air bath, and garden.

Everything felt super shady from the moment I arrived. Just to clarify, it’s a very steep uphill walk of more than 20 minutes — you can take a motorbike, but I chose to walk because I felt it was unsafe on a bike (the mototaxis know the way and do it well, it was just a personal preference). Once I got there, tired, the staff was not welcoming at all. After asking them to charge me for just one night and them refusing (which was my mistake because I could’ve handled that through Booking), they charged me the festival rate they were hosting. The manager claimed she had informed me about it, which is not true, and after offering me a “discount,” I still had to pay the equivalent of more than one night’s stay for a festival I didn’t want to attend. I asked if there would be any quiet time, and they said yes just to keep me happy — but that wasn’t the case. The next morning, more than half of my dorm mates left because the music never stopped and no one could sleep. I also left for a couple of nights because I had to work and needed to sleep. Speaking of the facilities, they’re not in good condition for the price you pay: the mosquito nets are torn, the pillows and mattress are uncomfortable, and the door slams every time there’s wind. It was very hard for me to get any rest there, and I didn’t feel the quality-price ratio was fair.

Cheap and relatively near a very quiet beach. Has Aircon and a card machine. The guy working at reception is really nice and helpful and ordered us dinner from a takeout place and coordinated payment when they closed the kitchen ridiculously early.

Our stay was perfect, the views from the property were amazing. The room was very clean and comfortable and it feels like you’re sleeping in the middle of the jungle. Polo was a great host and the meals prepared for us were delicious and we also really enjoyed taking part in the chocolate tour.

We loved this place. The location is great, quiet but also you can do small hikes from there and also go to the Tayrona park very easily. You have direct access to the sea which is very rough but beautiful and if you don't like it you can also swim and relax in the pool. Room was very nice and clean. Food is amazing, it's not cheap but that's something we knew beforehand and it was very delicious. Staff is friendly and very welcoming.

We had a very nice stay and felt very well looked after. Orlando, our host, was very attentive and friendly. The accommodation is in a very quiet location, between banana fields and jungle and is great for relaxing. The outdoor area is quite spacious and very well maintained with some exciting exotic animals and even a super cute little black and white cat that always kept us company and made our stay even more special.
