He also arranged a truck to take me to the trailhead in the early morning so I wouldn’t have to waste my energy before the actual hike starts. There is also a little restaurant and the food is excellent and not too expensive!

The people running this lodge are extremely friendly and helpful. They were willing to put up with my rudimentary Spanish, but actually, the owner speaks fluent English. The older lady who ran the kitchen while we were there, is adorable. The decoration of the main parts of the lodge is beautiful. Our room had a little outside sitting area overlooking Otavalo. When we returned in the evening, the fireplace was lit, and we spent a bit of time there, enjoying the ambiance of the common room.

Very good location, very kind and communicative staff, good breakfast, 24/7 reception and clean rooms/floors and hotel. Good value for money. Safe area and very close to everything including Plaza de ponchos, many restaurants and exactly by the bus terminal. You can see the life of the city from the balcony because on that street there's everything from vendors to stores to dogs to locals arguing kids going to and from school....it's very lively and loud and authentic. The loud part is not for everyone though. At breakfast the staff was able to accommodate our small requests or modifies. Very kind :)
