We have just spent two memorable nights at La Dixmeresse with the new owners, Geraldine and Charles, who treated us like guests in their own home. La Dixmeresse is a charming, historic property, sympathetically renovated to accommodate today’s needs. It is on the edge of Restigne, a small quiet village surrounded by vineyards and well located for visiting multiple chateaux and wineries in this lovely region of France. Our bedroom was large and tastefully decorated, with comfortable beds and high-quality bed linen and towels. It was spotlessly clean and had every convenience. Geraldine is an excellent cook. A lovely breakfast was included, and we chose to have dinner there both nights. For my husband, who is diabetic, she arranged a beautiful fruit plate for his dessert, instead of the decadent chocolate cake with crème anglaise that I enjoyed! Charles (English speaking) helped us plan our tour each day, suggesting places that we had overlooked and giving us advice about which routes to take that would be most scenic.

The bed was SO COMFORTABLE that we almost missed breakfast. Madam was so obliging we enjoyed a lovely breakfast also. This was such a lovely surprise to find so close to centre of town but quiet. Beautiful furnishings. Superb!!!

We had the small guestroom, with one large bed downstair, two other beds upstairs. The house was very good, clean, and we were very well welcomed. There is a good size swimming pool and games for the kids to play in the garden. Breakfast very good. Quiet area. Note that the stairs of the guestroom are quite steep but it did not pose much trouble for us.

Boasting a bar and views of inner courtyard, Beaulieu La Source is a recently renovated guest house set in Saumur, 4.6 km from Saumur Train Station.

The location was ideal, right next to the river which allowed us to take a beautiful drive along the Loire and only 5 minutes drive from the picturesque town of Saumur where there are many restaurants to go to for dinner. After spending a day visiting the Touraine region of the Loire, this was the perfect place to spend the night before moving on to visit Anjou. The hosts were very welcoming and even gave us a tour of the caves behind the building to see the naturals springs and wine making equipment. Breakfast was plentiful, the hosts were great company and they spoke english very well. Our room was lovely, spacious and very traditional for the area with the beams, rustic furniture and stone walls giving such great character to the place. It was easy to find the accommodation and the parking was just across the road with ample space. I dont have a bad word to say about this place and will be sure to stop here again on my next visit to this incredible part of France.

Rural setting so very quiet. Very close to Chinon. Welcoming host. Very good breakfast and very comfortable and clean bedroom and bathroom ensuite. Just as advertised. If we have the opportunity we would go back.

Selma, our host, has created a magical accommodation high in the trees. The treehouse is well furnished, comfortable and with an outside terrace where one can commune with the birds and trees. And, listen to the lovely tone of the hourly chimed church bell. Seeing stars glint through the bedroom windows and hearing owls (Little Owl) is a mindful moment before sleep.
