Craigvrack is a great family owned & run hotel/bnb with ample parking, about an enjoyable 10 mins walk from center of the high street. Everyone who works here is wonderful. We arrived a little earlier than the standard check-in time, and Lakshmi offered us a coffee while he checked if our room was ready. He apologized that the heating in the room was on a timer and not yet on, however the room was perfectly warm. The room itself was clean and well appointed, overlooking the countryside, but a little small – however this is to be expected in old buildings that have been converted, and you swap a little convenience for the charm of not being in a cookie cutter chain hotel.
Breakfast is excellent, with help yourself and cooked to order options that cater for a variety of dietary restrictions.
Cidsin is an excellent Indian restaurant in the hotel that is very popular with locals as well as visitors, so it’s advisable to reserve a table. It’s not a standard british ‘curry house’, but serves a fusion of traditional Indian food updated with modern techniques and ingredients, with the emphasis on depth of flavours rather than spiciness or heat. The food and service is outstanding, hence it’s popularity.
As previously mentioned the staff is outstanding, both friendly and helpful. We were attending a wedding in Blair Castle, about 15 mins drive away, and asked the owner, Chetan, if he could recommend a taxi company for us to use. He insisted on driving us there himself, which was incredibly kind.
You just can’t go wrong with Craigvrack, and Chetan, Lakshmi, Aniket, and the rest of the staff will look after you wonderfully.
Pitlochry is a pretty town & very walkable. We particularly enjoyed ‘The Auld Smiddy Inn’ pub. Blair Athol distillery which is Scotland's oldest is in the town & Edradour is in a neighbouring village (but currently closed to visitors). Plenty of hikes & walks nearby, including to the local dam with a salmon ladder.

Lovely owners. Wonderful breakfast. The location is perfect. Comfortable.
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travelers who prefer laid-back accommodations with a personal touch. Usually family run, these hosts will provide local recommendations and even optional meals. Guest houses sometimes feature a cozy living room or a garden – and are still cheaper than most regular hotels.
Our stay was exceptionally pleasant with wonderful hosts and a pristine, quiet environment in a scenic location (loved the board games and the living room). We enjoyed the most restful sleep in ages, thanks to a cozy bed and room. The home-cooked breakfast was very tasty.
Great location, very spacious and clean rooms. Incredibly helpful hosts who ensured we were fed despite it being bank holiday so limited restaurants open nearby. Welcoming to dogs including access to fenced dog exercise area. Great tasty breakfasts. Honesty bar and log fire with board games etc was really nice touch. Would definitely recommend.
