Gorgeous accommodation in a fabulous location. Close to everything....restraunts, port, shops, iing trails and beaches. Clean simple accommodation and quiet. Can't wait to return.
The traditionally built Achilleas Pension is located just 150 metres from Hydra Port and the rocky Spilia Beach. A flowery internal courtyard lies on site, while WiFi is offered in public areas.
The stone-built Theano Guesthouse is centrally located in the scenic Hydra Island, within a 10-minutes’ walk from the port.

Theano’s is a beautiful, clean, and affordable guesthouse. Antonia and Lida were wonderful hosts—warm, welcoming, and always ready to go the extra mile to ensure our stay was as comfortable as possible. They even kindly accommodated us for an extra night when we were unexpectedly affected by strike action, which we really appreciated.
The guesthouse itself is spotless and tastefully decorated, offering excellent value for money.
The only reasons we’re not giving a full 10/10:
• Location and accessibility: The property is quite difficult to find, with minimal signage on the surrounding streets and lanes. Additionally, it’s located up a large number of steps, which could pose a challenge for those with limited mobility.
• WiFi issues: Unfortunately, we weren’t able to access the WiFi for the first two days of our stay, which was a bit inconvenient.
• Garden access: While the garden looked lovely, we weren’t given access to it during our visit, which was a bit disappointing.
That said, our overall experience was very positive, and we’d absolutely recommend Theano’s to others—especially those looking for a peaceful and authentic stay with kind, attentive hosts. The house is also very close to Leonard Cohen’s house so perfectly located for visiting.
With its warm and welcoming staff, this traditional mansion is just a 3-minute walk from Hydra’s port and features beautifully appointed guest rooms with views of Hydra or the sea.

Amazing breakfasts
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.
The location is amazing - super central and unlike many Hydra properties, with no steep steps involved to access. Despite its centrality the location is also extremely quiet - a little oasis of calm.
The rooms are very comfortable, well-appointed and spotlessly clean, and amenities like water and toiletries are topped up daily, and towels replaced daily too. The communal courtyard is really beautiful and charming. Stella, the hostess, is very kind and accommodating.
The apartment was much nicer in person than in the pictures. It is very spacious and convenient. Also, it is super clean. The terrace was huge and comfy. Smaragda is a great host who lives in the nearby and helps in everything. She even helped us to get a donkey "taxi" for our luggage. The apartment is a bit further away from the main port but it is very quiet in return.
Greek hospitality at its finest. Stelios and Anna Maria were the sweetest hosts and we will always remember our quiet mornings eating our breakfast under the lemon tree. They also offered us beach towels and a place to keep our luggage until our ship arrived. Sparkling clean apartment, away from the buzz of the city centre. Would definitely recommend.
Very charming little apartment located just steps away from the port. Quiet in the evenings and well equipped for a short stay. The hosts are lovely and super thoughtful :)
The host, Yiannis, was excellent. He met us off the ferry and took our luggage on foot to our apartment. It is in a great location adjacent to the town centre in Hydra, but also quiet with views across the town.
The apartment is spacious and well appointed. The host mother not only cleaned the apartment each day, she also dropped off fresh bread each morning to go with our complimentary continental breakfast.
Great location and nice view if you have the room on the top floor with a balcony. Unlike other places it is only a short climb up to the pension so handy for coming and going during the day.
Host was very nice and helpful. She is usually at her clothing shop just below the pension if you need anything.
Fridge was handy although a bit noisy. Was very quiet with the window closed even though close to the clock bell tower.
A beautiful boutique guesthouse, in a quiet and exquisite area of Hydra. It is also close to a truly excellent restaurant small square. At night you can hear the bells in the distance, the patio area is spacious, private and peaceful. Rebecca is a truly wonderful friendly and helpful host. Will stay again when I am back in Hydra.
